Tia Mowry recently addressed her comments implying a desire for a closer relationship with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry, particularly in light of Tia’s divorce from Cory Hardrict. This remark surfaced in the trailer for her upcoming docuseries, Tia Mowry: My Next Act.
In a US Weekly interview on September 24, 2024, Tia clarified that her comments were about the physical distance that had developed between the sisters.
“I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.”
Speculation regarding Tia and Tamera’s estrangement arose after the release of Tia’s docuseries trailer on September 22, 2024. In the trailer, Tia expressed:
“Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce. It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now.”
Furthermore, Tia Mowry shared her perspective on never truly being alone, having come into the world as a twin and being in a relationship for 22 years, describing her life journey as “quite a journey.”

As a reminder, Tia and Tamera Mowry rose to fame starring in the ABC sitcom Sister, Sister, which aired from 1994 to 1999 over six seasons. In her recent interview with US Weekly, Tia addressed the rumors stemming from her statement. She noted that it was “not surprising,”explaining:
“When you’ve been in this industry for over 30 years, things are always taken out of context and it is what it is. The only thing that I can do is control my behaviors and be the best person that I could possibly be, and that’s what both of us are. We are incredible, inspiring examples, and we have been that all our lives. So, why change that now?”
Tia elaborated on her comments from the docuseries trailer, indicating that as siblings grow, they often develop new roles and responsibilities within their lives. She emphasized that her remarks were intended to reflect how familial bonds can evolve.
During the interview, Tia Mowry expressed the importance of having loved ones nearby during challenging times, stating:
“In these transitions in life, sometimes you just want a hug and you just want someone to be as accessible as they used to be, and that is not the case. It’s called life.”
Tia also shared her thoughts on embracing the next chapter post-divorce from Cory Hardrict, with whom she has a son and a daughter. She remarked on finding “beauty in solitude”and the significance of recognizing personal traumas and triggers.
She reflected, asking herself, “What role have I played in my pain and suffering?” Tia mentioned that understanding her role in her experiences is crucial to her healing journey.
