This Windhawk mod lets customize Windows 11 Start menu to your will
Many Windows enthusiasts and fans enjoy tweaking and modding the OS and its components, often preferring it over using Windows as it is. The placement and aesthetics of the Start menu on Windows 11 have been a source of debate among these enthusiasts.
Despite the current state of the Start menu, there is some good news as the company is considering redesigning it in the near future. In the meantime, for those looking for more options to personalize the Windows 11 Start menu, the Windhawk mod is available for users to try out.
This modification, known as Windows 11 Start Menu Styler, allows you to make some interesting adjustments to the Start menu such as eliminating unwanted items. For this mod to function, you will need to have Windhawk version 1.4 or a newer version.
The mod’s developer has provided an explanation of its functioning. They state:
The settings have two sections: control styles and resource variables. Control
styles allow to override styles, such as size and color, for the target
elements. Resource variables allow to override predefined variables.
This mod enables users to remove the Search box, the Recommended section, the User profile button, and the Power button, as well as move pinned app lists.
Below are the things that users can currently do:
- Remove the search box
- Move pinned app lists
- Remove the Recommended section
- Remove the user profile button
- Move the power button
Comprehensive guidance on adjusting and customizing the aforementioned can be found on this page within the application’s GitHub repository.
To remove the Recommended section, simply enter the following into the Target box:
