On October 19, 2024, the beloved K-pop sensation BTS received nominations at the 2024 Asia Artist Awards. The globally acclaimed boyband, known for their Grammy nominations, is vying for the ‘Popularity Award: Male Singer’ at this prestigious ceremony set to unfold on December 27, 2024.
At present, five of the group’s members—Namjoon, V, Jimin, Suga, and Jungkook—are fulfilling their duties in the South Korean military, while Jin and j-hope have recently completed their service. The lineup for performances at the forthcoming Asia Artist Awards features notable acts such as LE SSERAFIM, EXO’s Suho, KISS OF LIFE, &TEAM, TWS, and WHIB.
Meanwhile, the ARMY, BTS’s dedicated fanbase, is celebrating the band’s recognition at one of Korea’s premier music award events. One enthusiastic fan expressed their excitement on X:

BTS fans took to social media to congratulate the boyband, flooding X with a flurry of supportive tweets.

Band members Namjoon and Taehyung enlisted in the military on December 11, 2023, quickly followed by Jimin and Jungkook on December 12. Taehyung was later assigned to the Special Duty Team (SDT), a special forces division, in January 2024, making him the only member to join the special forces.
Conversely, Suga began his alternative military service on September 22, 2023, serving as a social service employee due to a shoulder injury. His enlistment period is set for 21 months, in contrast to the 18-month term for the rest of the group members. The most recent member to be discharged from military duty is j-hope, who completed his service on October 17, 2024.
Prior to j-hope, Jin was released from military service on June 12, 2024, and not long after, he was honored as a torchbearer for the 2024 Paris Olympics torch relay. He had the privilege of carrying the Olympic Flame through the iconic Louvre Pyramid on July 15, continuing the tradition of the Summer Games.
Both Jin and j-hope have since resumed their solo careers while the remaining members are slated to finish their military service in June 2025.
In other developments, Jin is preparing to launch his debut solo album titled “Happy”on November 15, 2024, with the pre-release track “I’ll Be There”set for release on October 25. The album will showcase six tracks and feature collaborations with various artists, including Wendy of Red Velvet.
