“They’re not in it to make money” – Wrestling veteran addresses CM Punk’s scathing remarks about Tony Khan (Exclusive)
Former WWE head writer Vince Russo expressed his thoughts on CM Punk’s remarks regarding AEW President Tony Khan.
The Best in the World recently sat down for an interview with Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour. During the conversation, he discussed his previous employer and shared that while Tony was a kind person, he lacked the necessary qualifications to successfully run a wrestling company. The Best in the World expressed concern that AEW’s current business model was having a negative impact on the company.
Vince Russo, on this week’s episode of Legion of RAW, reiterated Punk’s comments and expressed his opinion that Tony was not effectively managing AEW. According to Russo, the promoter was unconcerned with earning a profit as he had other sources of income. The ex-writer concurred with CM Punk, believing that Khan did not rely on All Elite Wrestling for financial success.
“Did we not know all that? I mean it’s great that Punk confirmed it but everybody knew that. That’s why it’s so hard to critique AEW bro. They’re not in it to make money. That’s how we’re all looking at it, we’re looking at it that way. Tony Khan is a billionaire. He doesn’t need AEW to make money,”said Russo. [From 15:25 onwards]
CM Punk is renowned for speaking his mind without reservation. This could be why he has earned the nickname The Voice of the Voiceless.
It will be intriguing to find out if Punk’s remarks this week provoke a reaction from Tony Khan, the head of AEW.
Vince Russo believes that Tony Khan does not prioritize AEW ratings.
