In a recent episode of the Bad Speakers podcast, released on October 4, YouTuber Charleston White came to the defense of Sean “Diddy”Combs amid his ongoing legal issues. White argued that numerous negative details about Diddy have been disclosed publicly, suggesting that federal agencies are attempting to tarnish his reputation.
“They have already conditioned us to turn against him. For two years, they’ve been leaking information about him, setting the stage for public opinion,” asserted White.
Charleston went on to express concerns about the Black community distancing themselves from Diddy, drawing parallels to the treatment of former comedian and convicted s*x offender Bill Cosby.
He urged people to pause and refrain from participating in the alleged character assassination targeting the Bad Boy Records founder. White emphasized that Diddy should be allowed to “fight”against the accusations and that his friends and community need to rally behind him.
Insights from Charleston White’s Comments on Diddy
During his candid discussion with G. Downs and Ya Boi Shad on the Revolt TV podcast, White addressed the recent arrest and federal indictment of Diddy.
He stated that authorities have been engaged in a smear campaign against Combs, claiming they’ve been “leaking” harmful stories for the better part of two years to damage his public image.
White noted that individuals such as Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie”Ventura, have not filed any complaints or went to the police regarding their past. He also recalled Diddy’s appearance at the Grammy Awards two to three years prior, where he called for better treatment of Black artists by industry executives and later interacted amicably with them.
Furthermore, Charleston linked Diddy’s current legal struggles to his dispute with the British beverage company Diageo, which controls two of Diddy’s alcohol brands, Ciroc vodka and DeLeon tequila. He claimed that the “English took advantage of the non-white boy” while “the White folks continued their celebrations” with him.
To provide context, Sean Combs partnered with Diageo in 2007 to promote Ciroc vodka and also reached an agreement for DeLeon tequila in 2013. However, in May 2023, he accused the firm of deliberately underrepresenting his brands due to his race and subsequently filed a lawsuit.
The legal conflict was resolved outside of court in January 2024, with Diddy retracting all accusations against Diageo and formally dismissing his lawsuit “with prejudice.”
Since the settlement, both parties have dissolved their business relationship, with Diageo solely retaining ownership of DeLeon.
Importantly, Charleston White is not alone in claiming that federal entities are targeting Diddy’s character. On October 6, Diddy’s mother, Janice Small Combs, made a statement through the family law firm.
“It is heartbreaking to see the world turn against my son so swiftly based on lies and misconceptions, without ever giving him a chance to share his side. These falsehoods stem from those motivated by financial gain rather than seeking justice,” part of her statement noted.
She further elaborated that the federal government was allegedly using “fabrications to prosecute my son,” describing the situation as the most painful “ordeal” as she witnessed her “beloved son’s dignity stripped away, not because of his actions but because of what people choose to believe.”
Ms. Combs called on supporters to back Diddy, allowing him the opportunity to present his truth and seek vindication, stressing that her son is not the “monster” the world has depicted him to be.
