The Walking Dead: Dead City continues to push the boundaries of horror and drama, promising a gripping second season filled with thrilling encounters. As fans await the return of beloved characters played by Jeffery Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, they can look forward to more intense zombie action on AMC later this year. The latest teaser hints at a darker turn for Negan, who is seen returning to his menacing habits, whistling an eerie tune while clutching his infamous bat, Lucille.
The narrative follows Maggie and Negan as they navigate the treacherous landscape of a zombie-infested Manhattan in a quest to rescue Maggie’s son, Hershel, from a new threat known as The Croat. In addition to the undead, the protagonists will face various groups of hostile survivors, adding layers of danger and complexity. The first season introduced audiences to the lawman Armstrong and a savage ensemble called The Burazi; however, this season promises to unveil a villain who poses a severe challenge even to the formidable Negan.
Kim Coates Discusses His Character in Dead City Season 2
In a recent interview with MovieWeb, Kim Coates, best known for his portrayal of Alexander “Tig”Trager in Sons of Anarchy, delved into his role as Brugal in Season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Coates stated he had never before portrayed a character as “vicious”as Brugal, indicating the role was uniquely tailored for him.
“Eli Jorné, the showrunner, personally selected me for this character,”Coates explained. “Upon reading the scripts, it was clear that Brugal was written with me in mind. He’s a despicable person with high intelligence—a billionaire who thrived in an elite enclave during the apocalypse. Now, he leads his own gang among the chaos in Manhattan, where the zombies roam free. In Season 2, there are several gang rivalries, and I assure you, Brugal stands out as the most dangerous.”
It’s important to recognize the history between Negan and Maggie, especially considering Negan’s role in the tragic death of Maggie’s husband, Glenn. Their relationship is complicated, marked by tension and grudging acceptance, and it remains to be seen how long this fragile truce will endure in the tumultuous environment of Dead City.
