The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol may seem like a lengthy title, but it fittingly encapsulates the essence of the show, which is not merely a continuation of the Daryl Dixon spinoff’s second season. This new season is set to premiere on September 29 at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
Bringing back fan-favorite Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier adds an exciting new layer to the narrative, emphasizing the unique relationship between her character and Daryl Dixon, portrayed by Norman Reedus.
In Season 1, viewers followed Daryl as he washes ashore in France and becomes responsible for protecting a young man named Laurent (played by Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), who is seen by humanity as a potential savior.
As The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol begins, we discover that far away in America, Carol is on a determined quest to locate her beloved companion, kicking off a riveting story that traverses two continents and keeps the audience captivated with its unexpected twists.
This dynamic partnership has been a delightful experience for both Reedus and McBride.
Levi, who admires Melissa McBride, previously expressed his initial apprehension about meeting her:
“I was a bit intimidated in the beginning of course. But she was so simple, so nice, so kind, so easygoing on set that very easily I felt okay, that’s an amazing partner. I can feel that. Let’s play, let’s have fun, let’s connect with each other. Let’s trust in each other.”
Even Anne Charrier, who plays the ultimate villain in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, praised Melissa McBride:
“It was very easygoing actually. Because Melissa is that kind of person. So you’re very impressed because you’re going to meet Carol. And then you meet Melissa. Very fast it becomes a professional partnership and it’s a very happy one.”
The cast of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol share their favorite villains from the series
While many may view the show as a straightforward battle between the living and the dead, the real menace within this zombie-infested universe stems from the disturbed humans who are pushed to their limits in their fight for survival.
Both Charrier and Levi, pivotal characters in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol, portrayed antagonists in the first season. When asked about their favorite villains from the series, Levi expressed his admiration for Negan:
“Okay. I’ll start. I’d say definitely I really love Negan. He is one of my favorites. I love the way he was behaving you know. Kind of little theatrical ways to behave you know. I love this so much. I was very impressed by his way of behaving, really.”
Charrier opted for a different yet equally despicable character. She mentioned:
“I would say Alpha. Alpha was my favorite. Maybe because she’s a woman you know. I thought she was so horrible. I thought hiding that way, the way she was sneaking in and stuff, she was horrible. She was definitely my favorite one.”
