The Voice kicked off its exciting new season on Monday, September 23, 2024. This time, fans were treated to a diverse array of coaches, featuring seasoned favorites Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire alongside newcomers Snoop Dogg and Michael Buble.
During the season premiere, contestants took to the stage, eager to impress the judges and earn a coveted chair turn. However, not all singers advanced in this high-stakes competition. While the coaches didn’t push their buttons, they were eager to provide valuable guidance to the young talents, equipping them with advice to help them thrive in the competitive music industry.
Snoop Dogg was particularly moved by the interactions between the judges and contestants. The connections formed during the auditions deeply resonated with the West Coast rapper, bringing him to tears.
The Voice judge Snoop Dogg emotional during the season premiere
When Michael Buble fan Ben Fagerstedt took the stage, he aimed for at least one chair to turn. Unfortunately, his performance of “I’ve Got You Under My Skin”by Frank Sinatra didn’t earn any buttons from the coaches. Nevertheless, Michael stepped in to help the 23-year-old enhance his skills.
He provided valuable advice on how to approach standard songs through both a traditional and pop lens. During Ben’s audition, Buble joined him on stage for a duet, creating a heartfelt moment that brought Snoop Dogg to tears.
While dabbing his eyes, Snoop congratulated Ben on his memorable “one-on-one with Buble,”stating:
“That’s what this show is about, to make these people better at what they do, whether they make it to the show or not. That’s our job as coaches.”
Snoop Dogg became emotional once again when country legend and judge Reba McEntire employed the new Coach Replay button for one of the aspiring singers. This feature allowed judges to press the button once if they regretted not turning for a contestant during their performance.
Kendall Eugene took the stage to perform Morgan Wallen’s “Don’t Think Jesus.”Despite his best efforts, no chairs turned for him. However, the moment his performance concluded, Reba realized her mistake in not pushing her button, and while providing feedback, she announced her intention to use the Replay feature for him. She expressed her confusion at not having turned her chair despite enjoying his performance.
37-year-old Kendall, who feared his journey on the show had ended prematurely, was ecstatic about the unexpected twist. Overwhelmed with emotion, he broke down in tears. Watching this poignant moment, Snoop Dogg found it challenging to hold back his own tears, recognizing the significance of this opportunity for Kendall. He quickly encouraged Reba to come up on stage and embrace Kendall.
Reflecting on his emotional response, The Voice coach exclaimed:
“When I see a man cry, it makes me cry.”
Snoop Dogg made a profound impact not only on the viewers but also on his fellow judges, who praised his generous and kind demeanor. During the premiere, the iconic rapper announced that he would be gifting Death Row Record chains to talented artists, featuring the logo of the legendary hip-hop label he now owns.
