The artist initiated the Brokey Challenge, inviting fans to create lip-sync videos to her hit “Brokey”from the Sugar Honey Iced Tea album. Since then, social media users have celebrated the TikTok user’s unexpected financial success.
In a viral video, the TikTok user is seen dancing with Latto, who showcases the cash prize she received. The Brokey Challenge not only promised the $10,000 prize but also an opportunity for the winner to participate in the music video for the song. Quoting a line from her track, Latto tweeted:
“No mo waiting til urb day to go outta town.”
Before going viral on TikTok with her performance alongside Latto, the user revealed in a video that she was fired from Waffle House for her participation in the Brokey Challenge. She had worked at the restaurant for six years and was shocked to be terminated “in a day” for taking part in an online trend. The TikTok user also mentioned being placed on an “EFR list,” which prohibits her from future employment at Waffle House.
