Former Waffle House employee and TikTok user @yadirajramirez1 gained significant attention online after winning $10,000 from rapper Latto. The artist initiated the Brokey Challenge, inviting fans to create lip-sync videos to her hit “Brokey”from the Sugar Honey Iced Tea album. Since then, social media users have celebrated the TikTok user’s unexpected financial success.

In a viral video, the TikTok user is seen dancing with Latto, who showcases the cash prize she received. The Brokey Challenge not only promised the $10,000 prize but also an opportunity for the winner to participate in the music video for the song. Quoting a line from her track, Latto tweeted:

“No mo waiting til urb day to go outta town.”

Before going viral on TikTok with her performance alongside Latto, the user revealed in a video that she was fired from Waffle House for her participation in the Brokey Challenge. The TikTok user also mentioned being placed on an “EFR list,” which prohibits her from future employment at Waffle House.

Many on the internet expressed their joy over her job loss, believing she deserved a much better position than what Waffle House could offer. One netizen remarked:

Latto’s Brokey Song Faces Backlash After Release

“Brokey,”featured on the Sugar Honey Iced Tea album released in August, debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 and No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, receiving generally positive reviews from critics. However, some fans reacted negatively to the lyrics, finding them offensive as they perceived Latto as dismissing regular jobs while showcasing her luxurious lifestyle:

“When a real one hold you down, bae, you supposed to drown/You ain’t never f*ck with no boss b*tch, I turned you out/You won’t catch me in no shark boots, y’all burnt ’em out/B*tches gotta wait ’til they/ birthday to go out of town/ Brokey.”

In response, Latto took to X to clarify that it was never her intent to belittle regular salaried workers, leading to the creation of the Brokey Challenge.
