While Monster Hunter Wilds introduces a myriad of formidable creatures, the true standout among them is none other than Poogie—the charming pink pig that meanders through the vibrant streets of Suta. This delightful companion holds a special place in the hearts of players.
Although the interaction with Poogie may not be as extensive as in earlier installments of the Monster Hunter series, players can still engage with this adorable pig. You have the opportunity to pet Poogie, earn his affection, and even give him a name that echoes your own beloved pets (unless, of course, your cat already takes the role of your Palico).
Petting Poogie: A How-To Guide
If you’re eager to interact with Poogie, simply approach him and follow the on-screen prompt to initiate petting. Once your character crouches down, be patient: look for the exclamation point that appears above Poogie’s head before pressing the X button on your PlayStation or its equivalent on other platforms. Successfully petting Poogie is rewarded with delightful love hearts that float around you.
However, be cautious! If you move towards him too quickly or hesitate too long, Poogie might become irritable, bump you, and scamper away. Fortunately, you can easily attempt to win back his affection by lingering around for a bit.

The Benefits of Petting Poogie
Who wouldn’t desire the affection of a lovable little pig and the relaxed, charming toad that rides on his back?
Beyond the cuteness factor, there’s a practical reason to engage with Poogie. Successfully petting him grants you a random chance of obtaining rare and valuable items that he has unearthed from the nearby terrain. This loot can consist of consumable items, monster parts, guild points, or gathering materials—definitely worth the effort!
Keep in mind, though, that Poogie has limits on how many items he can provide. To maximize your chances of receiving new treasures, make it a habit to visit him after every few hunts. Failing to do so may result in him not having fresh items for you.
