The System Shock remake is getting a patch that includes a reworked ending, and more

In May 2023, Nightdive Studios finally released the highly anticipated remake of the beloved sci-fi RPG System Shock. The game received positive reviews upon its initial release. Now, Nightdive has revealed their plans for a significant 1.2 patch, set to be released on April 11. This update will feature a revamped ending and the option to play as a new character.

In the patch notes found on its Steam page, Nightdive announced that gamers will now have the option to play as a female character for the first time. Although the new female character model can only be seen briefly in the primarily first-person game of System Shock, it is still a welcome addition for those who desire this choice.

The game’s ending is receiving a revamp, which is even more intriguing. According to the patch notes, the ending will feature “new mechanics and a unique flow”upon the release of Patch 1.2. Additional details about the ending were disclosed in a PC Gamer article. However, fans are still eagerly awaiting the release of System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition, a remastered version of the 1999 sequel game.
