In a January 2017 interview with ABC News, she revealed that Lyle disclosed to her he was sexually abused by José in 1976, expressing discomfort in his room due to inappropriate touching, prompting him to seek solace by her bedside.

Diane recounted that she informed the boys’ mother, Kitty, about the incidents. However, Kitty sided with José, dismissing Lyle’s claims as fabrications. Following this, Kitty separated Lyle from Diane, marking the last conversation Diane had regarding the matter.
