The Sinking City 2 Unveils Exciting Gameplay and Launches Kickstarter Fundraising Campaign

The Launch of The Sinking City 2 Kickstarter Campaign

One year ago, Frogwares announced plans for a Kickstarter funding campaign for their highly anticipated sequel, The Sinking City 2. Although the studio intended to launch the campaign promptly, various unforeseen challenges have delayed its initiation.

However, the Kickstarter campaign is now officially live. Impressively, the initial funding goal of €100, 000 has already been surpassed, with contributions nearly doubling at this moment. While Frogwares has yet to announce specific stretch goals, it’s expected that they will provide updates in the remaining 29 days of the campaign.

Insights from Frogwares Leadership

Wael Amr, the CEO of Frogwares, reflected on the challenges faced over the past three years due to ongoing conflicts in Ukraine. He noted, “After three years of this horrid war hanging over our daily lives, we’ve learned to adapt, though it has never been easy.” Amr praised the support received during the 2023 Kickstarter campaign that successfully funded Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, which provided a safety net amidst operational disruptions such as power outages and sudden team relocations. He emphasized, “Given that The Sinking City 2 is a far more complex and demanding game, we’ve decided to take the same route as before.”

Exciting Genre Evolution

Frogwares Publishing Director, Sergiy Oganesyan, shared insights on a significant genre shift for The Sinking City 2, transitioning from adventure elements to a more immersive horror-focused experience. He remarked, “When we announced The Sinking City 2 back in 2024, we stated this is going to be our chance to shift our studio into creating games that are more ‘horror first’ focused and the results we’re all seeing internally are extremely promising.” Oganesyan clarified that while the investigative aspects remain integral, the emphasis on combat and exploration is designed to enhance gameplay while keeping the investigative element optional.

Technical Specifications and Platforms

The Sinking City 2 is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, which promises to elevate the gaming experience with its advanced graphics capabilities. Players can look forward to its launch on multiple platforms, including PC (available via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X, ensuring a wide reach upon release.
