The Sims 4: Businesses and Hobbies expansion brings an exciting dynamic to gameplay, allowing players to establish and manage small businesses rooted in their Sims’ hobbies. This feature empowers players to utilize various skills to create businesses where they can sell products, facilitate activities, or conduct classes on different skills.
Conducting classes not only provides a lucrative income opportunity but also helps Sims enhance their skills and forms connections with others who share similar interests. Below, you’ll find a guide on how to effectively launch a small business and offer classes within The Sims 4: Businesses and Hobbies.
Running a Class in The Sims 4

To begin hosting a class, players must start by establishing a small business. This can be easily done by selecting the cash register icon located at the bottom right corner of the Sim menu.
Once the business is set up, players need to gather necessary items to conduct a class:
- Ticket Kiosk
- Hobby Whiteboard

The Hobby Whiteboard marks the lesson zone, and while it can be situated in a smaller room, players should ensure its placement is strategic for class activities. Sims need to reach at least level 3 in the relevant skill to be eligible to start a class, so it’s crucial to practice skills accordingly. Alternatively, players can utilize cheat codes to adjust a Sim’s skill level as needed.

Before launching a class, it is essential to have a minimum of three registered customers at the Ticket Kiosk who are ready to attend. Additionally, ensure that three relevant skill-related items are available within the lesson zone (for instance, three pianos for piano lessons).Once all criteria are fulfilled, players can click on the Hobby Whiteboard, select “Start Class, ”and choose the desired class type to host.
For those wanting to automate the process, hosting classes can be incorporated into the Employee Task settings, allowing a Sim to perform this activity autonomously.
Earning Gold as a Teacher

Teaching a class in The Sims 4: Businesses and Hobbies functions similarly to a structured event with specific objectives to complete. Players must achieve these goals to accumulate points towards either a bronze, silver, or gold medal, where gold denotes exceptional performance. Key objectives for successfully teaching a class include:
- Lecture for a duration of 45 minutes
- Mentor a Sim during the class
- Inspire all attendees simultaneously
Additional objectives may relate specifically to the skill taught. For example, if the class is centered on piano, educators may need to engage in piano performances or discuss keyboard techniques. To secure a gold rating, it is vital to complete all objectives before time runs out, thereby prioritizing the timed tasks at the onset of the class.
Obtaining a gold rating yields rewards including a cash bonus, favorable business reviews, and the Brilliant Instructor buff, enhancing the Sim’s abilities for several hours. A Sim’s success in classes directly correlates with business performance, unlocking Small Business Perks that enhance operational efficiency and foster customer relationships.
