The Outer Worlds 2 unfolds in a rich sci-fi universe, where unexpected mishaps—such as accidental friendly fire—can drastically alter your gaming experience. As you navigate this intricate world, you’ll encounter various characters desperately needing assistance with a range of quests, some rather tedious in nature.
Finding Warren L. Warren
One notable quest in The Outer Worlds 2 presents itself as somewhat ambiguous, particularly if you’re not entirely sure where to begin your search. Your adventure starts in the first settlement, Fairfield, shortly after the game’s introduction. Here, you’ll be looking for a uniquely named character: Warren L. Warren, a loss prevention agent who seems overly equipped for his straightforward role.

Upon activating the quest, a search radius will appear on your map, guiding you to Warren’s location. He can be found relaxing on the porch of a house, offering clues that lead you deeper into the mystery.

Accessing the Terminal
After you locate Warren, head inside the very same house where he stands. You’ll discover that the critical lead is conveniently located beneath his nose. Inside, a terminal requires a specific code to provide the necessary information. You’ll find a scrap of paper on the floor near the refrigerator; picking it up will give you the code needed to access the terminal.

Unsealing the Cellar
Enter the code into the terminal and select the option labeled “Unseal Cellar.”This step uncovers the hiding place of the thieves you’ve been trying to track down—spoiler alert: you’re bang on target!
Exit the house and take an immediate right to find the newly opened door leading down to the cellar. Descend the stairs and proceed through another door at the bottom, where you’ll encounter Sentinel Lorenz.

Confrontation and Combat
In this critical conversation, Lorenz will admit her group’s involvement. If you engage through the dialogue properly, Warren will join you for a pivotal showdown. Prepare for combat as the encounter escalates into a gunfight with you, Warren, and Lorenz along with her two accomplices.
Warren proves to be a formidable ally, making the fight against Lorenz and her crew manageable. While I opted for a shotgun and SMG, feel free to choose weapons that suit your play style. Nevertheless, proceed with caution—an errant shot on my part accidentally turned Warren against me, which can lead to unintended consequences.
Despite friendly fire repercussions, the quest proceeds upon Lorenz’s defeat. Once you’ve overcome the adversaries, speak with Warren to wrap up the quest, and prepare for a final confrontation if he becomes hostile following the skirmish.
Quest Rewards

While Warren doesn’t directly reward you with anything overly exciting, your real prize lies within the high-security lockbox found in the cellar atop a crate. To unlock it, return to your ship and utilize the terminal that VALERIE previously showcased. Make sure to navigate using the arrows on the left side to locate the new “Manager’s Tasking Hat”lockbox.

To open the lockbox, you’ll need four Advanced Decryption Keys. If you’re looking for an efficient way to earn more keys, consider completing the Diabolical Drones Of Doom bounty quest. The Manager’s Tasking Hat enhances your magazine size by 30% across all weapons when worn, a significant advantage for those who frequently find themselves reloading in battle.
This hat also features the Inspiring Authority mod, which marks foes upon engagement. This mechanic encourages your companions to concentrate their fire on marked enemies, reducing the damage they deal to your allies in the process.
