The Outer Worlds 2 Guide: Unlock Double Jump to Defy Gravity

The captivating world of The Outer Worlds 2 is brimming with innovative gadgets and engaging mechanics, particularly within its expansive sci-fi RPG universe created by Obsidian Entertainment. One exciting feature you can unlock—provided you successfully navigate the quests—is the highly coveted double jump ability.

During the quest titled Perilous Journey To The Grove, you’ll encounter two characters trapped atop a massive farming harvester, following the unfortunate demise of Jackson, who met an untimely fate after falling from it. While Jackson’s fate is regrettable, it opens the door to new opportunities for adventure.

Mastering A Final Death for Gravity

As previously mentioned, make sure to progress far enough in the Perilous Journey To The Grove quest to successfully unlock A Final Death For Gravity. If you haven’t yet completed this quest, fear not; comprehensive guides are available to assist you.

Your initial goal is to communicate with the stranded individuals at the harvester’s peak. First, loot the P. A.L. E.boots from Jackson’s body. These boots automatically equip, granting you the coveted ability to double jump, significantly enhancing your mobility.

Once you’re airborne, simply tap the jump button again to gain additional height, enabling you to traverse larger gaps with ease. Don’t let the loud sound the boots produce during the double jump deter you—it’s all part of the experience!

To rescue Othaham and his companion, the next step is to retrieve the Drive Overloader from a balcony situated on the mountain adjacent to the harvester. With your new P. A.L. E.boots, successful platforming will be key.

Begin by launching from the platform in the image above to the rooftop in front of you, utilizing your double jump for effective traversal. To maximize your chances of making bigger gaps, consider sprinting before you jump and engaging your double jump mid-air—it’s a strategy that proves essential for this quest.

Continue executing double jumps to maneuver across the various gaps you encounter, as illustrated in the accompanying images. Even if a gap appears daunting, rest assured that it is passable. Occasionally, your character will automatically grab ledges to assist in the ascent.

Just before you reach the Drive Overloader, you will notice red, viny plants alongside the mountainside. If your Medical skill is rated at 3, you can harvest these for enhancements to your Medical Inhaler or transform them into Biomass ammo, provided your Science! skill is also 3 or higher.

After acquiring the Drive Overloader, your new objective directs you to the harvester’s summit where Othaham and his partner await. Behind the table where the Drive Overloader was located, a scaffolding leads upward—follow this path as you continue to leap over obstacles.

Stay cautious, as an ill-timed jump can lead to your character’s demise; however, fear not, as you will respawn with minimal loss of progress.

Upon reaching the final gap, you will find yourself at the location of the two stranded characters. Enter the structure, insert the Drive Overloader into the designated slot on the Harvester Automech Control Unit, and safely lower the harvester. After completing this task, converse with Othaham to wrap up the quest.
