“The Night Agent”is set to return with its highly anticipated second season, following the successful premiere of its first season on Netflix on March 23, 2023. Created by Shawn Ryan and adapted from Matthew Quirk’s 2019 novel, the show is produced by James Dodson and Nick Bradley, with executive production by Marney Hochman, William Sherak, Nicole Tossou, and Paul Neinstein, among others.

The inaugural season tracks the journey of low-ranking FBI agent Peter Sutherland, portrayed by Gabriel Basso, as he thwarts a fatal conspiracy aimed at the President of the United States. During this intense mission, he encounters Rose, a witness to the murder, who aids him in unraveling a network of rogue assassins and covert operatives embedded within the government.

Netflix recently shared a sneak peek into the storyline of the forthcoming season, which consists of 10 episodes and will introduce a multitude of new characters, scheduled for a winter 2025 release:

“The new season resumes after the exhilarating climax of Season 1, where Peter Sutherland’s triumph in safeguarding the president opens the door for him to become a Night Agent. As he becomes involved with the secretive Night Action agency, Peter will navigate a perilous environment rife with danger and betrayal.”

What Can Fans Anticipate in The Night Agent Season 2?

The debut season of “The Night Agent”achieved remarkable success, emerging as the most-watched series in 2023 with a staggering 98.2 million views within its first 91 days. It was renewed for its second season just days after its premiere on March 29, 2023, and Netflix later announced a third season in October 2024.

In a March 2023 interview with Collider, showrunner Shawn Ryan confirmed that season 2 would feature “a few familiar faces from season 1,”surrounded by “new characters.”A month later, he revealed to Comicbook that the upcoming season would tell “an entirely new story”and not be set in the Washington, D.C. area.

Filming for “The Night Agent”season 2 took place from February to June 2024. Although it was originally intended to air in 2024, the release has been postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes. The highly awaited second season is now expected to premiere in the winter of 2025 and will consist of 10 episodes, just like its predecessor.

  • Fola Evans-Akingbola as Chelsea Arrington, a Secret Service agent
