The new Ara: History Untold developer diary explores England and Queen Elizabeth I

We are now less than a week away from the highly anticipated release of Ara: History Untold, a grand strategy historical game developed by Oxide Games and published by Microsoft through its Xbox Game Studios division. This week, Oxide Games shared their latest developer diary video, highlighting another leader character in the game.

In the latest Encarta dev diary post on YouTube, Victoria “Tory” Setian, Design Director at Xbox, and Grace Rojas, Narrative Designer and Historian at Oxide Games, discuss how players can command Elizabeth the First, the renowned leader of England during the esteemed House of Tudor period.

In Ara, Elizabeth The First possesses a prominent leadership trait known as Gloriana. Players leveraging this trait will experience significant enhancements in their naval forces, including boosts in strength, speed, and visibility. Notably, during the mid-game, this trait can facilitate the creation of two military units: Longbowmen and Line Infantry.

Additionally, Elizabeth The First has a trait titled Independent, which grants a nation more houses in any town outside the capital. Another beneficial minor trait, Stately, comes into play during periods of peace, increasing the nation’s prosperity and happiness, ultimately generating more revenue. Lastly, the Mercantile trait introduces an additional merchant to the nation, enhancing trade capabilities.

Alongside the new developer diary, Oxide Games has also released the first two video game guides for Ara: History Untold. One guide explores the effective utilization of leaders in the game, while the other offers strategic advice.

Ara: History Untold is set to launch exclusively for PC on September 24. Players can pre-order the game now on Steam, with three different editions available: Standard, Deluxe, and Premium. Additionally, it will be available on Day One for Microsoft’s PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
