The highly anticipated K-drama, The Midnight Romance in Hagwon, featuring Jung Ryeo-won and Wi Ha-joon, will be released in May. On April 2, tvN unveiled the newest official poster for the drama, officially announcing the release date (May 11, 2024) and generating anticipation and buzz among fans and prospective viewers.

The poster depicts a romantic moment shared by a couple, captured just before they share a kiss.

The plot revolves around a renowned teacher and a former student who becomes a teacher, as they become entangled in a mesmerizing late-night romance. The performance of Jung Ryeo-won and Wi Ha-joon is highly anticipated, as their acting abilities are set to create a powerful dynamic on screen.

Release Date and Broadcast Schedule

According to the most recent announcement on tvN’s social media platforms, The Midnight Romance in Hagwon starring Wi Ha-joon and Jung Ryeo-won is set to premiere on Tuesday, May 11, 2024, on the tvN channel.

The premiere episode of this melodramatic romance will be broadcasted at 9:20 PM Korean Standard Time. The show will also be simulcast on the South Korean streaming service TVING.

Synopsis

The K-drama depicts the love story between Lee Jun-ho, portrayed by Wi Ha-joon, and Seo Hye-jin, portrayed by Jung Ryeo-won. After 10 years since his graduation, Lee Jun-ho returns to the academy and finds himself falling for Seo Hye-jin.

Seo Hye-jin is a respected academy instructor with an impressive 14 years of experience. She exudes unwavering strength and determination, never backing down from any challenge.

Despite his playful nature, Lee Jun-ho was a diligent student at a prestigious university. After a decade, he returned to his former instructor, Seo Hye-jin. Despite having a guaranteed solid career at a large company, Lee Jun-ho decided to leave his job and become an instructor.

Main Cast

Jung Ryeo-won, an Australian actress and former singer based in South Korea, who gained recognition for her role in the drama My Lovely Sam-soon, will play the character of Seo Hye-jin. She has also starred in popular dramas such as May It Please the Court, Wok of Love, Witch of Court, and many others.

Wi Ha-joon, known for his impressive performances in popular dramas such as Squid Game, Little Women, Bad & Crazy, 18 Again, Romance is a Bonus Book, and more, will take on the role of Lee Jun-ho.

Prior to this, she had taken on the role of Jung Ki-chul, the main antagonist in the Disney+ drama The Worst of Evil, alongside co-stars Ji Chang-wook, Im Se-mi, and BIBI.

Additionally, expectations are soaring, particularly because director Ahn Pan-seok is leading this drama. He has gained recognition for his outstanding contributions to popular dramas such as Something in the Rain, Secret Love Affair, Heard It Through the Grapevine, and One Spring Night.

Wi Ha-joon will be collaborating once again with the director of Something in the Rain, in which he previously appeared as Yoon Seung-ho, the younger brother of Yoon Jin-ah (Son Ye-jin) and the close friend of Seo Joon-hee (Jung Hae-in).

The highly anticipated premiere of The Midnight Romance in Hagwon will take place on Tuesday, May 11 at 9:20 PM (KST) on both tvN and TVING.
