The Microsoft Store just got some big performance boosts for Canary and Dev Windows Insiders

This Wednesday, members of the Windows Insider Program in the Canary and Dev channel received a new Windows 11 build, numbered 26100, from Microsoft. Although the build addressed certain problems, it also included an unexpected addition that was not mentioned in the change log.

Sergio Pedri, a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft who focuses on the Microsoft Store, shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account that the Windows 11 app store has undergone significant performance enhancements. According to him, the app’s splash screen can now be skipped in most cases, resulting in a much faster launch experience.

Microsoft Principal Architect Rudy Huyn shared a series of posts on X discussing additional details about the enhancements made to the Microsoft Store. He announced that the latest version of the app store, v22403, is now accessible to Canary and Dev Insider users.

Huyn’s message included a video clip demonstrating that the new version had resulted in product pages loading “40% faster on average”on the store.

Huyn also shared another message featuring a video clip demonstrating the improved performance of the new store build, which efficiently handles entitlement and licensing processes, resulting in the “Buy”button appearing about 1.5 times faster. He mentioned that the Dev and Canary Insider members can now access the latest Microsoft Store build, which includes numerous other updates, but the discovery of these changes will be left to the users. However, there is no update on when this updated version of the Microsoft Store will be available for all Windows 11 users.
