The latest Ara: History Untold patch extends gameplay turns for medium and long sessions and additional features

Oxide Games, in collaboration with Microsoft, has unveiled the newest update for their recently released PC grand strategy title, Ara: History Untold. The 1.0.5 patch introduces an increase in the number of turns for both medium and long gameplay modes, alongside various balance adjustments, enhancements in language support, and additional features.

General Adjustments

  • Medium game duration adjusted from 750 to 800 turns.
  • Long game duration increased from 1250 to 1500 turns.

City Management Enhancements

  • Multiple resource types will be visible at the game’s onset to afford players more strategic choices.
  • Smaller urban areas yield decreased tax revenue, promoting the development of larger cities.
  • Less production is generated by smaller cities, steering players toward taller builds.
  • Inhabiting larger cities requires slightly higher food intake due to reduced food maintenance from improvements.
  • Starting cities have an increased chance of being located in fertile regions.
  • Newly spawned areas are more likely to feature intriguing resources nearby.
  • Map generation settings altered to position players in more arable territories at the start.

Improvements and Triumphs

  • Maintenance costs have been raised across the board to tighten the late-game economic framework.
  • Factory wealth maintenance has risen from 5 to 10.
  • Foundry now incurs a maintenance of 5 wealth with 1 material requirement.
  • Crafting Guild material upkeep decreased from 5 to 1.
  • Trading Posts now contribute +10 prosperity to cities.
  • Forge maintenance costs increased from 1 to 3 wealth, along with requirements for 1 material and 1 wood.
  • Refinery maintenance has escalated from 1 to 5 wealth, now requiring 1 material as well.

  • Meteors now yield Metal Ingots without needing smelting.
  • Obsidian presence has been increased.
  • Tobacco earnings have diminished compared to earlier values.
  • Treasury Bonds and Law Books consumption occurs correctly at 1 every 10 turns.
  • Looms now appropriately grant 100% Craft Production as an amenity.

Reflecting community preferences for a more leisurely default pace, research costs have been slightly increased.

  • Research cost for Antiquities raised from 400 to 500.
  • Early Middle Ages research cost increased from 600 to 700.
  • High Medieval Age research cost escalated from 800 to 1000.
  • Renaissance era research cost raised from 1200 to 1500.
  • Enlightenment era research cost increased from 1500 to 1750.
  • Machine Age research cost increased from 1800 to 2250.
  • Atomic Age research cost raised from 2100 to 3000.
  • Information Age research cost has gone up from 2500 to 4000.
  • Singularity Age research cost increased from 3000 to 5000.

Events

  • The “Decor & Devotion”event now triggers correctly for Askia Muhammad.

Localization Efforts

  • Continuous updates are being made to all localized languages.

Units and Combat Changes

  • The majority of first Act units will now incur a material maintenance cost in addition to their food requirements.

In the coming weeks, Oxide Games intends to roll out the 1.1 update for Ara, which will introduce elements such as mod support, a new leader character, a battle viewer, and a National Economy screen.
