The Last of Us Part I Update Introduces AMD FSR 3.1 Super Resolution and Frame Generation Features

On Friday, a new patch, version 1.1.4, for The Last of Us Part I was released on PC. This update addresses several bugs while introducing support for the latest AMD FSR 3.1 Super Resolution and Frame Generation technologies. First implemented in March 2024, AMD FSR 3.0 has now been upgraded, paving the way for future enhancements anticipated with AMD FSR 4, which will be exclusive to the latest Radeon graphics cards.

With the introduction of FSR 3.1, players can expect significant enhancements, including improved temporal stability. This results in reduced flickering and shimmering effects, especially around moving objects, alongside a decrease in ghosting and enhanced detail preservation. The standout feature of this update is the addition of frame generation, which promises to significantly boost performance and frame rates in The Last of Us Part I.

Accessibility Improvements

  • Addressed a Text to Speech problem where the “M”key was not recognized when assigned to a function.

Furthermore, Naughty Dog is gearing up for the release of The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC, just two months away. Fans are hopeful that this sequel will incorporate all the enhancements delivered through patch updates for the first game, including the much-anticipated AMD FSR 3.1 features. Another area of concern revolves around ensuring improved day-one optimization, as many players expressed frustration with the performance issues encountered during the initial porting by Iron Galaxy and Nixxes Software. Early experiences revealed frequent crashes and prolonged loading times, which developers aim to address with the upcoming title.
