Recap of The Judge from Hell Episodes 9-10: Is Jeong Seon-ho the True J?

Episode 9 opens with the funeral of So-yeong, where Han Da-on loses his composure during his eulogy, angrily threatening the perpetrator. While several police officers attempt to manage him, Bit-na watches distressed and, during a touching moment, discovers So-yeong’s killer by placing her hand on the deceased’s body.

During an interrogation, A-rong reveals her hidden identity as Venato, a clandestine police officer from hell who tracks down rule-breaking demons in the human realm.

Concerned about her emotional state, Bit-na consults a doctor but receives reassuring results. Meanwhile, Da-on’s precinct sees the arrival of a new detective, Jang Mun-jae, who takes over leadership of Da-on’s team.

While deliberating on the investigation of bodies marked with the Gehenna symbol, Da-on comes to Bit-na’s defense against the skepticism of Donghoon, leading to a heated argument that results in Da-on being partnered with Mun-jae.

Attempting to comfort Da-on, Bit-na encourages him to eat, but they overhear a conversation about So-yeong’s murder, inciting a scene that forces Bit-na to intervene. A-rong witnesses their interaction from a distance.

While discussing J’s case, Bit-na becomes emotional and feigns a yawn to mask her tears. Man-do shares this information with A-rong. Later, Bit-na is visited by a figure claiming to be the angel Gabriel, who reveals her inability to protect Da-on due to his intent to commit murder. Consequently, she urges Bit-na to look after him.

In an alarming turn of events, Assemblyman Jeong’s son, Seon-ho, narrowly avoids a collision with pedestrians after crashing his vehicle, prompting another confrontation with Bit-na and his father concerning a lenient punishment.

In this episode, a fight ensues between Da-on and Dong-hoon over allegations concerning Bit-na’s integrity, with Dong-hoon physically assaulting Da-on. Mun-jae questions Da-on, attempting to gather more intel on Bit-na.

Bit-na patches up Da-on after the confrontation. The following day in court, she questions Seon-ho about his awareness of the charges pressed against him, which he accepts. When he avoids her gaze, Bit-na approaches him, asking directly about any murderous thoughts he may harbor, revealing her unsettling vision of him holding a knife over So-yeong.

Da-on and Mun-jae stumble upon footage relating to Bit-na, but Da-on discreetly deletes the evidence. Mun-jae confronts him later about this act. Subsequently, Mun-jae is urged by A-rong to eliminate Da-on before he meets with Bit-na.

As episode 10 unfolds, Jang Mun-jae is shockingly unveiled as Paimon, a rival of Justitia for over four centuries. A-rong had summoned Bael, transferring the responsibility of Da-on’s assassination to Paimon.

Bit-na ultimately opts for a two-year prison term along with four years of probation for Seon-ho, as promised. However, facing backlash for her overly lenient decision, she finds herself suspended for a month, using this time to investigate further into the J case. She suspects that J, known for mutilating his victims, could potentially be Satan, trying to craft a body on earth.

In a critical moment, A-rong attempts to safeguard Bit-na from Paimon’s wrath but finds her efforts ignored.

Determined, Bit-na and Da-on embark on a mission to meet the victims’ families, curious to uncover whether any have granted forgiveness to the killer. Concurrently, Assemblyman Jeong’s younger son, Tae-gyu, seeks to persuade Myeong-suk’s daughter regarding a villa redevelopment deal. In a flashback, it’s revealed that her son fell victim to J.

Despite her daughter’s push to consider redevelopment, she resolutely declines. During Bit-na and Da-on’s visit, she expresses her anticipation of meeting the murderer, laden with a single pressing question for him.

Bit-na expresses deep emotion after visiting Da-on’s childhood home, while Da-on remains stoic. Soon after, she pays a visit to Seon-ho at a club, suspecting his connections to Satan and J. Yet, he appears oblivious to her claims, clearly intoxicated.

A-rong and Paimon bring Da-on to an isolated location, cleverly using Man-do’s voice modulation for deception. Regretful of his involvement, Man-do flees from A-rong after throwing sulfur on her. With Gabriel’s guidance, he alerts Bit-na about Da-on’s peril.

At the concealed location, Da-on struggles against Mun-jae, now fully possessed by Paimon’s dark powers. Fortunately, Bit-na arrives just in time, overpowering Paimon, who occupies Mun-jae’s form, but is overwhelmed by a nightmarish vision. Da-on’s desperate call pulls her back into focus.

Bit-na conspires to stab Paimon with his own blade before embracing Da-on. However, Paimon, still alive, rises once more, weapon aimed at Bit-na as the gripping events of episode 10 conclude.

The forthcoming episodes of The Judge from Hell are scheduled for release on October 25 and 26.
