The Judge From Hell Episode 5-6 Recap: Han Da-on’s Mission to Capture Kang Bit-na

The narrative of The Judge from Hell centers around Kang Bit-na, an elite judge who is secretly a demon, assigned with the duty of sending wrongdoers to hell. Her life intertwines with Han Da-on, a gifted yet emotionally wounded detective. This series marks Park Shin-hye‘s much-anticipated return to television.

In the fifth and sixth episodes of The Judge from Hell, Da-on’s suspicions about Bit-na intensify as she faces a critical verdict in a challenging case.

Recap of The Judge From Hell Episodes 5-6: Does Seung-bin Suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder?

In episode five of The Judge from Hell, Kang Bit-na wakes up in the hospital surrounded by A-rong, Man-do, and Da-on. The doctor reassures her that she is physically fine. Da-on offers to drive her home, expressing his desire to learn more about her.

In an effort to satisfy Da-on’s curiosity and to keep him at bay, Bit-na asks Man-do to dig into her own background. Meanwhile, A-rong informs her about a meeting of demons who exchange information regarding Satan, who escaped with the Kylum. A-rong suggests that Bit-na find Satan and present him to Lucifer and Bael for forgiveness.

The following day, as Bit-na, Man-do, and A-rong head to the meeting, Da-on covertly follows them and stumbles upon a community kitchen filled with demons. When they question him, Bit-na quickly intervenes, claiming he is her driver. One demon provides him with critical information about the ongoing scenario.

This episode reveals that 26 years ago, Satan, who was second in command, attempted a coup against Lucifer but ultimately fled, taking the Kylum with him—a powerful object that grants eternal human-like existence. However, in his escape, he lost the Kylum and vanished. Demons gather monthly to share information and ensure they do not attract attention.

Despite Bit-na’s request for Da-on to leave, he chooses to assist with food distribution, witnessing a demon become emotional during the process. This demon, now aware that Da-on is human, fears that his emotional response will be exposed. Da-on assures him of his silence and inquires about Justitia. The demon cautions him to keep his distance from her.

Switching to another case, Da-on interrogates a father accused of murdering his wife and two children. The suspect, Yang Seung-bin, displays signs of having multiple personalities: Kim Seo-yul, a frightened child, and Koo Do-wan, the persona asserting guilt in the murders.

During the harsh interrogation, the alter egos clash, leading Seung-bin to self-harm and lose consciousness. Upon regaining his senses, he cannot recall the events.

Bit-na learns about this case from Man-do. However, due to his troubled past, Da-on doubts Seung-bin’s honesty. An error on Da-on’s part regarding the names of the personalities prompts Seung-bin to correct him, solidifying Bit-na’s interest in prosecuting him.

Seeking to elevate the stakes, she manages to transfer to the collegiate court’s specific case with the help of Assemblyman Jeong. During the trial, Seung-bin appears to have another outburst and must be removed from the courtroom. Bit-na insists on a psychological evaluation for him.

With A-ron’s assistance, Bit-na infiltrates the facility housing Seung-bin and prepares to try him for murder. Just as she prepares for this, Da-on unexpectedly grabs her from below the bed.

In the sixth episode of The Judge from Hell, Bit-na successfully evades capture. Da-on remains suspicious, but lacks substantial evidence.

The next day, during court proceedings, Da-on gathers incriminating evidence against Seung-bin. However, Bit-na declares it inadmissible, leading to Seung-bin being released under custody for two years of treatment, shocking everyone present.

As Seung-bin is being transported to the psychiatric facility, the police convoy is ambushed, and he is abducted. Da-on, though slightly injured, tries to extract the truth from Man-do, who refuses to cooperate, prompting Da-on to wait outside Bit-na’s door for answers.

Bit-na escapes via a back window, using Man-do’s voice modulation skills to fool Da-on into believing she is home. Subsequently, Seung-bin’s trial commences, where Bit-na gives him a taste of his own medicine—subjecting him to a set of brutal assaults as a form of retribution.

After obtaining a confession, Bit-na delivers the final blow by stabbing him 21 times—mirroring the number of times he attacked his family—and brands him with the term “Gehenna.”The following morning, Da-on finds Bit-na exiting the residence, only to receive shocking news about Seung-bin’s death.

As Da-on continues his search for evidence, he seeks out the emotional demon, only to discover that the demon has taken his own life. Here, it becomes clear that A-rong’s true mission involves locating demons influenced by human emotions, as the demon had been involved with a human woman and was thus returned to hell.

Infuriated, Da-on blames Bit-na for the demon’s fate, leading to a heated confrontation. Meanwhile, the cleanup crew informs A-rong about a body they disposed of that exhibited emotional characteristics, enhancing the drama’s tension. The sixth episode concludes with a resident of the same area being stalked in the shadows.

The next episode of The Judge from Hell is set to be released on October 11.
