The Judge from Hell Episode 4 Recap: Han Da-on’s Suspicion Towards Kang Bit-na Grows

The Judge from Hell, which premiered on September 21, 2024, stars Park Shin-hye and Kim Jae-young in the lead roles. The drama is directed by Park Jin-pyo, renowned for his previous works Love Forecast and Closer to Heaven, and is scripted by emerging writer Cho I-su. This captivating series seamlessly blends elements of fantasy and suspense.

The storyline of The Judge from Hell follows Kang Bit-na, an esteemed judge who conceals her true identity as a demon, responsible for meting out justice to the wicked and sending them to hell. Her fate becomes intertwined with that of Han Da-on, a talented yet emotionally scarred detective. Fans are eagerly anticipating Park Shin-hye’s much-anticipated return to television.

The drama features a robust supporting cast, including Kim In-kwon, Kim Hye-hwa, and Lee Joong-ok. In the fourth episode, Da-on begins to suspect Bit-na. With the revelation of her demonic nature, he finds himself with even more questions.

Episode 4 Recap of The Judge from Hell: A-rong Presents a New Case for Bit-na

In the fourth episode of The Judge from Hell, Da-on informs Bit-na that Ja-yeong will be investigated for charges of child abuse. He also resolves to stop bothering Bit-na, as he chooses to trust her. Bit-na later confides in A-rong and Man-do that her heart has been racing lately, which prompts Man-do to speculate that she may be experiencing true love. However, it is said that if a demon falls in love, it could lead to their demise.

Ja-young resorts to adding sleeping pills to a drink and cunningly forces Sun-hui to consume it. Meanwhile, she abducts Ji-ho to her home with intentions of murder. She instructs him to enter the bathtub and hold his breath until directed otherwise.

Just as this is unfolding, an unknown woman calls Ja-young, seemingly aware of her nefarious deeds. The woman arranges to meet Ja-young at the site of her first murder, prompting Ja-young to leave Ji-ho momentarily, allowing him to seize the opportunity to escape and alert Da-on for help.

Bit-na arrives at the arranged location in Hyeon-su’s vehicle. After a fierce confrontation, she coerces Ja-young into admitting her involvement in Hyeon-su’s murder. As part of her method of justice, Bit-na forces Ja-young to endure a taste of her own medicine, extracting confessions regarding her initial murder.

Ja-young, motivated by greed, had married an elderly man for his wealth. She escalated her malicious intentions by blinding him and ultimately pushing him off a cliff during a hike. Following this, she targeted Hyeon-su, exploiting her position as a school teacher to manipulate the narrative in her favor.

Bit-na ensured that Ja-young experienced the same horrors as Ji-ho and her late husband. Convinced of Ja-young’s guilt in multiple murders, Bit-na exacted lethal justice by stabbing her and condemning her to Gehenna.

In a chilling twist, Bit-na disposed of Ja-young’s body in a suitcase near the police station, ensuring a connection with Da-on would be re-established.

This episode also depicts a dinner invitation from Assemblyman Jeong to Bit-na, revealing more about her family background, including her parents living in Argentina and her brother running a Japanese restaurant. During their meeting, Bit-na learns that the real Kang Bit-na was supposed to succeed the Assemblyman. Despite this, the Assemblyman’s younger son snubs her, much to his father’s disappointment.

Afterward, Bit-na brings some leftovers to A-rong, sharing details about Gremory, who possessed A-rong’s body after a failed suicide attempt, and about Man-do, who died from overwork and was subsequently inhabited by Valak.

The next day, Bit-na is summoned for questioning about Ja-yeong’s murder, as the police begin to treat it as a serial killing based on the markings found on the victims, both linked to Bit-na. Claiming her innocence, she cites a lack of concrete evidence.

Bit-na then asks Da-on for a ride home, but his terse demeanor during the trip irks her. At her apartment, an elderly woman warns them to keep their distance; otherwise, one may find themselves in jeopardy, which Bit-na dismisses with a laugh.

At the location of Hyeon-su’s death, Da-on discovers a crushed soda can similar to how Bit-na crushed one earlier, heightening his suspicion.

A-rong investigates a cold case involving a serial killer with twelve victims who was never prosecuted due to the unconsidered testimony of a ten-year-old witness. Bit-na urges A-rong to track down the adult version of that child.

Ji-ho sends Bit-na a thoughtful gift, a portrait of her, and in turn receives a heartfelt letter from his estranged parents apologizing and expressing their love. The mailman inquires about his message, to which Ji-ho replies that he will ensure his grandmother is well taken care of.

Back at her apartment, Bit-na realizes that Da-on has moved into the unit directly across from hers. This revelation causes her heart to race, leading to a sudden faint as Da-on attempts to help her. This climactic moment marks the end of episode four of The Judge from Hell.

The next installment of The Judge from Hell is set to premiere on October 4 on Disney+ in select regions.
