The Judge From Hell Episode 3 Recap: Is Bae Ja-yeong Telling the Truth?
Episode 3 opens with a brief glimpse into Kang Da-on’s traumatic past. As a child, he returns home to find his parents murdered, confronted by a menacing figure.
Returning to the present, after Bit-na mistakenly kills Da-on, believing him to be guilty, Bael intervenes, reminding her that she has once again made a grave misjudgment by eliminating an innocent person. Now, Bit-na must locate 20 murderers within a year to fulfill her dark quota.
With fragmented memories surfacing, Da-on handcuffs Bit-na and takes her to the police station. However, no one believes his claims of her murder since he seems unharmed, appearing intoxicated and without any visible injuries.
At a café, Bit-na meets Man-do and encounters Gremory, the judge of Fake Hell, who is also serving time on Earth for her role in allowing the real Bit-na to escape from Fake Hell. Misunderstanding her revival, Lee A-rong initially thinks Bit-na has returned to life. Upon realization that Bit-na is Justitia, A-rong pledges to support her mission, advising her to keep Da-on silent about their exploits.
Bit-na reveals the truth to Da-on, even producing the dagger that materialized in front of her. She issues a chilling warning to him, threatening to kill him should he breathe a word of their encounter again. In a calculated move, she destroys a surveillance camera to prevent him from gathering evidence.
In a flashback of his childhood, Da-on is depicted changing his statements to the police regarding his parents’ murder, yet they refuse to consider his evidence credible.
New characters are introduced in this episode, showing a family of three involved in a tragic car accident that leads to their vehicle plunging into the water. The mother, escaping through an open sunroof, manages to save herself and her child, while the father is tragically lost.
During the funeral, the paternal grandmother, Jang Sun-hui, creates a scene claiming that the mother murdered her son, refusing to allow her custody of the child.
This incident becomes the focal case entrusted to Bit-na in Episode 3 of The Judge From Hell. Sun-hui accuses Bae Ja-yeong of unlawfully taking her grandson, Yoo Ji-ho, claiming Ja-yeong is responsible for the death of her own son, Yoo Hyeon-su. Despite being removed from the courtroom, Sun-hui hints at the potential for insurance money, catching Bit-na’s attention.
Determined to investigate further, Bit-na arranges a meeting with Bae Ja-yeong, who alleges that Sun-hui abandoned Hyeon-su, only to later seek financial gain. Ja-yeong believes Sun-hui’s motivations center around acquiring money, which leads her to pursue custody of Ji-ho.
Da-on, eager to understand why Bit-na killed him, insists on sticking by her side, even accompanying her to meet Sun-hui. During their discussion, Sun-hui claims Ja-yeong was engaging with another man during the funeral and often neglected Ji-ho.
Seeking more answers, Da-on sends Ji-ho with Bit-na. While examining Ji-ho’s drawings, Bit-na uncovers alarming evidence that Ja-yeong had previously attempted to suffocate him with a pillow. Ji-ho reveals that Ja-yeong also tampered with his car seat belt, leaving Hyeon-su to perish, even threatening him with harm should he speak out.
For her ruling, Bit-na releases Sun-hui while advising her to resolve Ji-ho’s guardianship with Ja-yeong amicably.
In the closing moments, Ja-yeong manages to reclaim Ji-ho and plans to drown him, while Bit-na braces herself for her next trial, as Da-on rushes to locate Ji-ho. This gripping third episode of The Judge From Hell concludes with rising tension.
The Judge From Hell releases two episodes weekly, available every Friday and Saturday in select countries on Disney+.
