Throughout these intimate one-on-one dates, Joan opened up about her anxieties surrounding the prospect of entering a new phase in her life. As viewers are aware, having eliminated one suitor, Joan now has three potential partners from whom she must choose to get engaged. During episode 6, the star of The Golden Bachelorette articulated her feelings of being “very protective”regarding her heart as she contemplates deeper emotional commitments.
She acknowledged not yet being in a “place of love,”but she did envision a path forward wherein she could identify her strongest connection. Joan expressed:
“I don’t think I’m at the love place yet because I’m very protective of my heart, but I’m moving in that direction. I hope this is a transformative week.”

During the October 23 episode of The Golden Bachelorette, Joan visited the hometowns of her final four suitors. On her outing with Guy, she traveled to Lake Tahoe to meet his family and shared poignant reflections about her late husband, John. Joan revealed the challenges she faces in moving on, stating:
“I deserve to have love, but I have to let go of John a little bit to do this. But that is still kind of hard for me.”
Later, Joan’s date with Pascal involved meeting his daughter and son. In her confessional segment, she remarked that Pascal still seemed guarded. While Joan admitted to having deep feelings for him, she expressed concern about the possibility of heartbreak, sensing Pascal might not yet be ready for a serious commitment. She shared:
“The fact that his walls are up makes me a little hesitant because I have strong feelings for him, so I don’t want my heart to be broken. I’m not sure if he’s ready. I don’t know if he’ll ever get there. All this is getting really real, and I’m getting scared.”
Joan’s next hometown dates were with Jordan and Chock. She conveyed feelings of confusion regarding Jordan’s interest in investing effort into their relationship, pondering if he was truly committed to making sacrifices. Post-date, Joan noted she could envision a future with Jordan, despite her uncertainties about her eventual decision.
“I feel confused. I don’t think Jordan knows where he’s gonna be, but he’s currently open to continuing this on.”
When it came to Chock, Joan assured him that she could picture a future together:
“There is something real here. I see a future now. Big black hole. .. it doesn’t look like a big black hole anymore.”
