The Elder Scrolls Online Launches Battle for the Writhing Wall Event
ZeniMax Online has introduced a groundbreaking event, the Battle for the Writhing Wall, in The Elder Scrolls Online, marking a notable shift as this launch occurs simultaneously across all gaming platforms. Typically, updates debut on PC and Mac before making their way to consoles, underscoring the significance of this release. Central to the Seasons of the Worm Cult, this event invites players to join forces and challenge the sinister magical barrier, a soul-crafted wall established by the nefarious necromancer cult that has restricted exploration in Western Solstice.
Phase 1: Supply and Defense
The event unfolds in three dynamic stages, commencing with the Supply and Defense phase. Players are tasked with assisting the Stirk Fellowship, a coalition comprising the three Alliances alongside the Fighters and Mages Guilds. The objective is to gather essential resources for the impending assault. Throughout this phase, skirmishes ensue as players clash over siege camps, while planar incursions disrupt locales all across Tamriel.
Participation is open to all players, yet only those who own the 2025 Content Pass may initiate quests in Solstice. Expect the Worm Cult to seize control of various delves and public dungeons scattered across Tamriel, utilizing these locations as strategic invasion points. These marked sites are known to house enhanced challenge monsters, making them key targets for daily quests provided by NPC Orinde Glenuvon.
Phase 2: Strengthening the Assault
As we transition to Phase 2, the focus shifts to fortifying defenses while launching a concentrated assault against the Writhing Wall. Players should brace for fierce counterattacks as the Fellowship calculates its crucial strike. During this phase, both participation and challenge intensify—more frequent and tougher siege camp incursions will ensue. Surprisingly, the powerful Daedra Ghishzor, a formidable Maldrith, will make appearances as a world boss in Solstice, adding an extra layer of excitement.
Phase 3: The Final Push
The climactic Phase 3 commences once the Writhing Wall is sufficiently weakened. Players will then engage in a decisive operation to breach the Writhing Fortress, marking the final public instance challenge. This phase is notably structured: it lasts precisely one week once the Writhing Fortress is fully cleared on a respective server, ending after this time period. Only those possessing the 2025 Content Pass can engage in this ultimate confrontation.
This event’s model draws parallels with the iconic Ahn’Qiraj opening event from vanilla World of Warcraft, as each server’s progress relies on its community’s contributions. Currently, the Xbox Europe and PlayStation Europe servers are leading the charge. Players can track server progress in real-time on the official ESO website.
In a recent discussion with ZeniMax Online’s leadership, we delved into significant studio changes ranging from staffing updates, the cancellation of Project Blackbird, and the strategic vision of their new Game Director, Nick Giacomini, aimed at sustaining the vitality of The Elder Scrolls Online over the forthcoming 30 years.
