The Borderlands series is renowned for its roster of immensely powerful Sirens, yet it harbors a hidden gem within its comic adaptations: Asha. As anticipation builds for Borderlands 4, fans are buzzing with theories about which beloved characters might make their return. While many focus on well-known figures, Asha—a lesser-celebrated Siren—deserves a chance to shine once more. With the new game on the horizon, now is the perfect moment to highlight this underrated character.

Although Asha’s achievements as a Siren are impressive, she remains largely confined to the comic series and is not considered part of the main Borderlands canon. This limitation means that Asha truly deserves to play a more significant role in the franchise. The upcoming release of Borderlands 4 represents a prime opportunity to reintroduce this fascinating character to the wider gaming audience.
Move Over, Lilith: The Untapped Potential of Borderlands’ Most Underrated Siren
Asha: The Siren with Extraordinary Powers

In the comic series Borderlands: The Fall of Fyrestone, Asha initially appears under the name “Tate, ”where she is introduced as a companion to Claptrap. After a harrowing encounter with Nine Toes, she falls into a coma, only to awaken later in the series fully healed from her physical afflictions. Asha’s Siren-like abilities remain enigmatic until Borderlands: Tannis & The Vault #8, where she partners with Tannis and the Vault Hunters in search of a key fragment, which is fiercely protected by a menacing Rakk Hive. In a thrilling turn of events, when Claptrap is wounded by a Rakk, Asha retaliates and utilizes her incredible Siren powers.
Sirens in the Borderlands universe are recognized by their distinctive blue tattoos and formidable abilities, with each possessing a unique skill. While Lilith is known for her Phasewalk and Tyreen and Troy Calypso for their Phaseleech, Asha boasts the intriguing power to “control the beasts of any planet.” She proves her capabilities by commanding Rakks to soar away from the Vault Hunters. Though she shows difficulty in retraining larger creatures like the Rakk Hive, it is clear that her beast-taming potential could further evolve with experience. This unique trait positions Asha as a strong contender among the series’ most formidable Sirens.
Asha’s powers share similarities with those of Fl4k from Borderlands 3, who can also control and tame various animals throughout Pandora.
It’s Time for Asha to Shine Among More Popular Sirens
With So Many Sirens, Why Not Add Another?

While Borderlands lore states that there can only be six active Sirens at any given time—hinting at a seventh character in Borderlands 3—this does not exclude Asha from making a comeback. With Tannis, Amara, Ava, and an upcoming playable Siren in Borderlands 4 confirmed as existing, and Lilith’s current fate still uncertain, there remains room for one more Siren to join the ranks. Asha has not appeared since her comic book debut, and with all the buzz surrounding the new installment, it is the opportune moment for Borderlands to capitalize on this excitement by bringing Asha back into the fold.
