“That’s pretty homosexual” – Alexander Hernandez says Damon Jackson’s reason for kindling feud is “the softest sh*t of all time”
Alexander Hernandez has recently commented on the reason behind Damon Jackson’s animosity towards him. The two individuals are scheduled to compete against each other in a featherweight fight this upcoming weekend as the co-main event of UFC Vegas 90.
The longstanding rivalry between Hernandez and Jackson dates back several years. It is widely known that Jackson has a strong connection with UFC legend Donald Cerrone, and the pair have both trained under Sayif Saud, head coach of Fortis MMA.
When Hernandez was scheduled to face off against Cerrone in January 2019, ‘The Great Ape’ made some derogatory remarks about the experienced fighter during his media obligations leading up to the fight. This did not sit well with Jackson, who believed that Hernandez’s behavior was disrespectful.
At a press conference for UFC Vegas 90 media day, Jackson elaborated on his dislike for Hernandez, stating:
“I’m actually really tight with ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone. Him and my coach, they used to be teammates, and so when he talked a lot of smack with ‘Cowboy’, it kind of lit some fire underneath me. I was like, ‘Dude this guy’s so arrogant. He talks so much smack.”
After being questioned about Jackson’s remarks, Hernandez disregarded his upcoming opponent’s words as being “too homosexual”and remarked:
“I’m pretty neutral about him myself… [Upon being told why Jackson dislikes him] Oh, that’s pretty homosexual. That was a long time ago. That’s like the softest sh*t of all time, dude. I promise ‘Cowboy’ doesn’t care about you… That’s kinda silly to cry over another man’s woes.”
The Pre-Fight Trash Talk Between Alexander Hernandez and Donald Cerrone in 2019
As previously stated, Alexander Hernandez faced off against Donald Cerrone in a lightweight bout at UFC on ESPN+1 in January 2019. During the press conference leading up to the fight, ‘The Great Ape’ expressed his disdain for Cerrone and referred to the seasoned fighter as a “jester”who stood in the way of his ultimate goal.
Despite being initially scheduled to face Francisco Trinaldo at UFC 233 in January, Hernandez’s fight was cancelled by the promotion in favor of a match against Cerrone. Notably, Hernandez agreed to this last-minute change just one week before the fight.
At a pre-fight press conference, Hernandez made an attempt to provoke Cerrone by lashing out at him. He stated:
“First, I’m grateful to Cowboy for taking the fight… I just see myself facing an insecure little lad, swinging on a pop gun with a feather in his hat… You look worn out, you look aged and withered… You’re a jester in the way… You’re concerned with entertaining people, I am on the road to the throne. I’m concerned with kingship and you’re a jester.”[H/T MMAFighting.com]
In the end, Cerrone emerged victorious over Hernandez with a second-round knockout, resulting in the Missouri native’s first defeat in his professional career.
