Thalia Graves, a woman who has accused Sean “Diddy”Combs of sexual assault that took place in 2001, recently held a press conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday, September 24. Graves was accompanied by her attorney, Gloria Allred, a prominent advocate for sexual assault survivors.
Thalia Graves is an entrepreneur and public figure renowned for her contributions to the fashion and beauty sectors. She has carved out a successful career as a businesswoman and influencer, independent of her legal battles.
This press conference highlights the ongoing legal troubles for Combs, who is currently embroiled in multiple abuse allegations, including sexual trafficking and racketeering.
Thalia Graves Reveals Her Story of Alleged Rape and Trauma
During the press conference, Thalia Graves spoke about how the alleged assault at a Bad Boy Records studio in New York City has profoundly impacted her life.
“It’s a pain that reaches into your very core of who you are,”she disclosed tearfully, illustrating the persistent emotional and physical effects.
Gloria Allred reinforced Thalia Graves’ narrative, stating that the defendants allegedly recorded the assault without her knowledge and later disseminated the footage as pornography. Allred stressed that her client “would never have consented to the videotaping.”
Thalia further detailed the lasting consequences of the incident, revealing it has led to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, and anxiety.
“I go through spells of being distant and withdrawn,”she expressed. “The trauma of the assault has taken a toll on my mental health.”
Additionally, Graves shared how the incident has affected her relationships, leading many to become toxic and exacerbating her feelings of isolation.
As noted in her complaint, the alleged video footage of the assault was later shared with others, including Thalia Graves’ ex-boyfriend. Her choice to come forward now, over two decades later, seems linked to the recent legal actions against Combs.
On September 16, Diddy faced indictment on several charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sexual trafficking. This indictment follows a November 2023 lawsuit filed by Combs’ ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who accused him of years of abusive behavior. Graves’ lawsuit, while separate, shares similarities with Ventura’s claims, particularly concerning non-consensual recordings of sexual acts.
The alleged assault has imposed enduring physical and emotional scars on Graves, causing chronic pain and sexual discomfort. She acknowledged that she continues to experience flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts. Graves described her lawsuit as a critical step toward healing, stating,
“It has created a cycle of suffering, but I am glad that he is locked up, even though that is a temporary feeling of relief.”
In her closing statements, Graves acknowledged the emotional repercussions of the assault on her life, confirming that her healing journey is ongoing, but she expressed a fervent desire for justice and accountability.
“I am emotionally scarred,”she remarked. “It has been hard for me to trust others or even feel safe in my own skin.”
Combs remains in custody following his indictment, and Thalia Graves’ case contributes to the growing list of legal challenges he faces. To date, neither Combs nor his legal representation has issued a response to Graves’ press conference or the specifics of her lawsuit.
