Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 5 Recap: Understanding Sadie’s Feelings Towards Stephen

The Halloween-themed Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 5 premiered on Hulu on September 25, 2024. Although this latest episode lacked any gruesome scenes, it fully embraced the Halloween spirit, presenting several twists that tested some relationships while fortifying others.

One notable relationship strained by the toxic dynamics of Lucy and Stephen in Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 5 is that between Stephen and his sister, Sadie. Sadie, who came to Baird to celebrate Halloween with her brother, was confronted with a revelation when Lucy exposed Stephen’s toxic behavior towards her. Previously, Sadie had believed that Lucy was the toxic figure in their relationship.

However, her perspective shifted dramatically when Lucy shared a voicemail from Stephen that validated her claims about his behavior. Disappointed and enraged, Sadie confronted Stephen, who attempted to rationalize his actions. In response, Sadie told him he sounded just like their mother.

This comparison was meant to be derogatory, as their mother is known for her toxic and dismissive tendencies.

Sadie’s Anger with Stephen After Learning the Truth in Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 5

Stephen seemed to have a unique bond with his sister Sadie, one that appeared immune to his toxic traits. However, in Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 5, that dynamic shifted.

Upon her arrival at Baird, Sadie did not anticipate any drama, yet she quickly found herself in the middle of the conflict between Stephen and Lucy. Compounding the situation was the arrival of Lydia, Lucy’s childhood best friend, who joined in the accusations against Stephen, claiming he had tarnished Lucy’s life with his toxicity.

The episode revolved around Sadie grappling with these allegations while Stephen continuously denied them. However, when Stephen attempted to sever the bond between Lydia and Lucy by exposing private conversations from their past, Lucy retaliated.

During a pivotal exchange with Sadie, Lucy showed her a voicemail from Stephen wherein he spoke disrespectfully to her. After hearing the voicemail, Sadie confronted her brother once again, this time siding with Lucy.

Despite Stephen’s insistence that he was not the villain, it became evident that Sadie’s perception of him had changed, leading her to declare he was acting like their mother.

Oliver’s Manipulative Behavior Towards Bree in Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 5

What started as a brief affair between Bree and Oliver—showing Bree’s emerging control over her life—took a troubling turn in the latest episode of Tell Me Lies Season 2 Episode 5.

Throughout the episode, Bree seemed to become more enmeshed in Oliver’s manipulative tactics. Viewers witnessed how easily Bree was influenced, particularly during a weekend getaway organized by Oliver. The events of their trip were anything but enjoyable.

At just twenty years old, Bree faced issues with identification when they attempted to get drinks at a bar. Although the bartender served them, she advised them to choose a venue that did not require an ID in the future. Ignoring her concerns, Oliver displayed blatant dominance by kissing Bree without regard for her discomfort.

The next episode of Tell Me Lies Season 2 is set to stream on Hulu on October 2, 2024.
