Daniel Hernandez, widely recognized by his stage name Tekashi 6ix9ine, has recently entered into a lucrative record deal with Kartel Music, reportedly worth millions. According to a TMZ report dated October 7, 2024, this new contract entails a ten-track album alongside an upcoming tour.
The report indicates that Hernandez will receive one million dollars for the album, which is set to include collaborations with artists from the Mexican regional music scene. The tour will cover various locations throughout the United States, Mexico, and both Central and South America, with the rapper set to earn $250,000 for each performance. In total, this deal could yield him upwards of $6 million.
Originating from Brooklyn, Hernandez is noted for his raucous rapping style, numerous controversies, and distinctive appearance. As per Celebrity Net Worth, Tekashi 6ix9ine’s last recorded net worth was around $500,000.
6ix9ine previously secured a $10 million record contract with 10K Projects in October 2019
Growing up amid financial hardships and following the tragic murder of his stepfather outside their home, Hernandez exhibited behavioral issues in school leading to his expulsion in the eighth grade. He subsequently took a job at a local bodega.
The rapper’s journey into music began at 16, when Hikari-Ultra CEO Peter “Righteous P”Rogers, who discovered him while he worked at the store, encouraged him to pursue a career in the industry.
By 2014, Hernandez started to release tracks like 69, Shinigami, Yokai, and Pimpin, which, combined with his colorful hair and extensive tattoos, led to a degree of recognition in the underground rap community.
His breakout moment came with his feature on Trippie Redd’s track “Poles 1469″in 2017, which skyrocketed in popularity. Following that, the artist produced several hit songs such as Fefe, Kooda, Gooba, and Trollz.
Even with his success, 6ix9ine is among the most polarizing figures in the music world. In 2015, he pleaded guilty to a felony charge linked to child pornography and was sentenced to probation as well as community service.
In 2018, he faced arrest on charges concerning weapons, drugs, and racketeering. To evade a potential 47-year prison term, he cooperated with authorities and testified against members of the Nine Trey Bloods gang.
During his testimony, he disclosed that he garnered $60,000 monthly from YouTube and live performances. A September 2020 New York Times article stated that he received a sentence of 2 years but only served 13 months.
Durring the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown in 2020, 6ix9ine sought permission to finish his sentence at home, citing a high susceptibility to the virus due to health issues and the rapid spread of COVID-19 in prisons. His request was approved.
Additionally, he confessed to enduring domestic violence for years during a 2020 interview with the New York Times.
Shortly after his release in 2020, he released “Gooba,”which experienced immense success, racking up over 40 million views within a single day. According to Celebrity Net Worth, on that same day, 6ix9ine hosted an Instagram Live event, claiming he earned $2 million from the song and planned to donate part of the proceeds to charitable causes.
Throughout the years, the rapper from Brooklyn has often claimed to have inked several multi-million dollar contracts with various labels, including Birdman’s RICHGANG, though these claims have yet to be substantiated. According to an October 2019 article by TMZ, Tekashi finalized a $10 million deal with 10K Projects while still incarcerated.
Despite his earnings, a court filing indicated that he was facing financial difficulties, attributing the loss of income to his time in prison, as reported by Celebrity Net Worth.
The agreement with Kartel Music stipulates that 6ix9ine must refrain from engaging in online disputes, legal troubles, or arrests throughout the contract’s duration.
In a discussion with TMZ Live, the MALA artist described the agreement as more of an “exclusive touring arrangement”rather than a traditional “record deal.”
No further developments have been reported as of this writing.
