A star from Ted Lasso has publicly expressed disinterest in pursuing a spinoff series centered around her character, despite acknowledging an intriguing storyline.Ted Lasso, created by Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, and Jason Sudeikis—who also stars as the titular character—centers on an American college football coach hired by a Premier League soccer team in England. While the show has garnered immense popularity, questions linger about its future beyond the anticipated third season, which aired in 2023. Speculation regarding a fourth season and potential spinoffs continues to circulate.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Juno Temple—who portrays Keeley Jones, a model-turned-PR manager—shared her thoughts on a spinoff focused on her character. Temple emphasized the collaborative nature of the Ted Lasso production, declaring her reluctance to branch out individually. She did, however, note the potential for a narrative exploring women’s sports, particularly emphasizing the exciting developments surrounding women’s football in England.
The idea of a spinoff with Ted Lasso is a complicated one for me, because it so feels like a team that I don’t know if I would want to do a spinoff.I don’t want to be a part of it if everybody else isn’t. It’s a team. It’s a real team!
I haven’t thought about that, but I think that’s definitely something I would find to be a great journey for Keeley and also for Rebecca, you know? And I think, also, women’s football is something that is so exciting — especially in England, we’ve been doing so well — but I think it’s something that… I don’t know, who knows? It would be a great storyline.
Future Prospects for Ted Lasso & Keeley
Potential for Renewal and Spinoffs

Although Ted Lasso Season 4 has yet to receive official renewal, Temple’s insights indicate both her and the cast’s willingness to reprise their roles if the show continues. The show’s remarkable success stems from its collaborative spirit, with a multitude of creative voices playing a crucial role in its storytelling. Given the series’ popularity, the anticipation for a fourth season appears high, alongside the potential for spinoff series.
Beyond the Richmond women’s team concept, there is speculation surrounding a possible spinoff featuring the next generation of coaches from Richmond, with Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), Coach Beard (Hunt), and Nate Shelley (Nick Mohammed) potentially at the helm.
Temple’s remarks suggest she is not yet finished with her character, Keeley. Should Season 4 materialize, it is certain that Keeley will have a significant presence. However, the direction of her storyline remains uncertain. Nonetheless, Temple is clearly invested in concluding Keeley’s arc meaningfully, which would ideally involve collaborations with her fellow cast members.
Exploring the Possibility of a Keeley Spinoff
Intriguing Narrative Opportunities

Ted Lasso features a rich ensemble cast, each character contributing to the series’ depth and appeal. Keeley Jones, in particular, has undergone substantial character development—transforming from a trophy girlfriend to a competent businesswoman. The dynamic between Keeley and Rebecca Welton (played by Hannah Waddingham) has been integral to the show’s narrative. A spinoff that delves into these women’s empowerment journeys, particularly through the establishment of a women’s team, could capture the audience’s interest.
While Temple has not definitively ruled out the possibility of a Keeley-focused spinoff, it remains a distant prospect. However, should Ted Lasso return for another season, Temple seems poised and ready to resume her beloved role.
