Tate McRae Shares Scary Whale Encounter While Jet Skiing with Kid Laroi This Summer

On Wednesday, October 9, Tate McRae opened up about her thrilling summer experiences during her appearance on The Capital Evening Show hosted by Jimmy Hill. The singer revealed some exciting moments, including a thrilling close encounter with a whale while on vacation with her boyfriend, The Kid LAROI, with whom she confirmed her relationship earlier this year.

While chatting with Hill, he remarked:

“[You had] a pretty terrifying incident over the summer on a jet ski with your boyfriend, The Kid Laroi, where you fell off and almost faced a whale.”

The 21-year-old artist reminisced about their perilous jet ski adventure, sharing:

“I had no idea what I was getting into. You trust your boyfriend, but honestly, jet skis can be quite dangerous.”

McRae disclosed that their jet ski mishap resulted in them being roughly “10 feet away” from a massive whale. The singer of “Run for the Hills”elaborated:

“It’s super freaky to me; the ocean is such a bizarre place. You’re just out there in the dark with your toes dangling, and it feels so strange. When we fell in, I felt this tingling sensation at the bottoms of my feet, thinking, ‘We could die right now.’”

In the subsequent month, the pair attended the 2024 NHL All-Star Game in Toronto and were also seen together during Super Bowl weekend, mingling with celebrities like Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber.

In April, during the iHeartRadio Music Awards, when Billboard inquired if she might collaborate with LAROI, Tate McRae playfully covered her face and replied, “I don’t know. Yeah, maybe. He’s fantastic.”

That same month, at a concert in Dublin, LAROI identified his “girlfriend”who was in attendance. McRae was spotted backstage, confirming her presence. LAROI exclaimed:

“I need everyone here to sing as loud as possible because my girlfriend’s in the audience, and I don’t want to look lame. If you don’t sing really loud, it’s going to be embarrassing.”

July saw the couple make their relationship Instagram official when LAROI posted a picture of them kissing on McRae’s birthday, writing, “Happy 21st birthday, you make me better! I love yoooouuu.”

On August 22, fans were taken by surprise when the couple performed together at McRae’s concert in New York City. LAROI expressed his pride, saying:

“I’m so proud of you, and you have so many supporters here who love you. I’m one of them.”

Before her relationship with LAROI, Tate McRae dated hockey player Cole Sillinger from 2021 until 2023, while LAROI had a previous relationship with model Katarina Deme from 2020 to 2023.
