Take-Two Confirms No Delay for Grand Theft Auto VI

Grand Theft Auto VI Update: Release Timeline and Company Insights

Since the announcement trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI was released nearly a year ago, Rockstar Games has maintained a low profile, leading to speculation about potential delays. However, recent statements from Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind Rockstar, indicate that the highly anticipated title remains on schedule for its projected release.

Tighter Release Window for GTA VI

The initial trailer for the upcoming game provided a broad release window of 2025. In May 2023, Take-Two refined this timeframe, aiming for a fall launch. According to the latest earnings report from the second quarter of this fiscal year, Rockstar is still focused on this fall target, with no adjustments made:

“As we look ahead, we believe that Take-Two remains exceedingly well-positioned for the long term. Our vision is clear, our talent is unparalleled, and we have one of the strongest portfolios of owned intellectual property in our industry. With many exciting new titles coming in Fiscal 2026 – including Grand Theft Auto VI in the fall, Borderlands 4, and Mafia: The Old Country – we expect to create long-term value for our shareholders.”

Take-Two’s Strategic Shift

In a notable strategic shift, Take-Two recently announced the divestment of its indie publishing label, Private Division, emphasizing a commitment to producing blockbuster hits such as GTA. The forthcoming installment of the franchise is confirmed for release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, although a PC version has not yet been announced.

GTA VI Trailer Success and Fan Anticipation

The release of the first GTA VI trailer marked a significant milestone, amassing over 100 million views within just days of its debut. Currently, it boasts over 217 million views, establishing a record for the franchise. Many fans are eagerly awaiting the release of a second trailer, especially given that the first trailer has only been labeled as “Trailer 1.”

Keeping the Franchise Alive

It has been over a decade since the launch of Grand Theft Auto V, yet Rockstar continues to engage its audience through regular updates to GTA Online. Recent announcements have also confirmed that the Expanded and Enhanced upgrade released on consoles will soon be available for PC gamers, offering a fresh experience for players awaiting the latest installment.
