Since its debut in 2000, Survivor has captivated audiences, and CBS has responded to the demand for more episodes. The network is currently airing its 47th season, with episode 5 premiering on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 8 PM ET/PT.
This season of the reality survival series features contestants who are divided into three tribes: Lavo, Gata, and Tuku, all vying for a chance to reach the finale and claim the $1 million prize.
Following last week’s elimination round, the Gata and Tuku tribes each stand at five members, while Lavo is down to four contestants. Kishan Patel’s strategy failed him, leading to his elimination from the tribe.
Jeff Probst returns as the host of Survivor 47, and the remaining members of the Lavo tribe include Genevieve Mushaluk, Rome Cooney, Solomon Yi, and Teeny Chirichillo. Meanwhile, the Gata tribe comprises Andy Wheel, Anika Dhar, Rachel LaMont, Sam Phalen, and Sierra Wright.
Highlights from Survivor 47 Episode 5
In the episode titled “Scales Be Tippin,” Teeny expressed her surprise regarding the tribe’s decision to eliminate Kishan, who had been her ally. Rome approached Teeny to question why she had not aligned with him as she previously promised.
After a conversation with Genevieve, Teeny received some reassurance, as Genevieve pointed out that if push came to shove, Rome and Sol would find themselves at the bottom.
The contestants later gathered at the challenge venue, only to notice a reduction in the number of colors on the contest props, igniting speculation about a possible switch to two tribes. However, Jeff introduced an exciting new twist instead.
In a surprising turn of events, the tribes were randomly divided into two teams of seven. The blue team consisted of Anika, Sol, Rome, Gabe, Andy, Sierra, and Genevieve, while the yellow team was made up of Sue, Kyle, Teeny, Sam, Rachel, Tiyana, and Caroline.
The yellow team emerged victorious, earning the opportunity to enjoy a barbecue feast. During the celebration, Teeny voiced her concerns about her safety within the game.
In Lavo, Rome seized the moment while Teeny was absent and confided in Sol, revealing Teeny’s amulet advantage and Genevieve’s preference for working with Teeny over him. Later, Genevieve and Sol compared notes, realizing Rome was planting seeds of distrust between them.
Tiyana also disclosed to the entire group that Gabe had been on an idol-hunting spree. As allies, Sue was not pleased with Tiyana’s revelations regarding Gabe. After returning to their respective camps, Sue informed Gabe about Tiyana’s comments.
Before the immunity challenge, the Gata tribe negotiated with Jeff upon their arrival with chickens. After two eggs were broken and Sierra’s refusal to slaughter the chickens, they exchanged them for 18 fresh eggs. During the challenge, which involved dragging a net filled with sandbags and coconuts and assembling a puzzle, Gata chose to sit out Anika while Tuku had Sue sit out.
Tuku succeeded in earning immunity by completing the challenge ahead of the other tribe. Initially, Gata planned to vote out Andy but shifted their focus to Anika after Sam voiced his distrust of her.
Andy caught wind of this development and pretended to be on board with Sam’s plan while secretly aligning with Rachel and Anika. During tribal council, the vote ensued, resulting in Anika’s elimination with a 3-1 vote against Andy, shocking both her and Rachel.
Emotional, Anika departed the Survivor 47 set in tears, refusing to say farewell to her fellow tribe members.
