Survivor 46‘s Kenzie Petty: From Pregnancy to Island Triumph
Pregnancy Announcement and Journey
Originating from Charlotte, North Carolina, Kenzie Petty announced her pregnancy on Mother’s Day, just days before the exciting finale of Survivor 46, heightening the anticipation surrounding her victory.
The couple officially revealed their pregnancy in May 2024, one week ahead of the finale on May 22. Kenzie excitedly posted on Instagram:
“I’ve gotten really good at keeping secrets and going on adventures this year, but it’s finally the perfect day to tell y’all WE’RE HAVING A BABY!! Sweet lil Petty popping up in September.”
During her pregnancy, Petty received immense support from family and friends. She expressed her gratitude in an Instagram story, saying:
“Thank you all for being there for me through the craziest thing I’ve ever experienced.”
Plans for the Future
After claiming her victory, Kenzie shared her future plans regarding her prize money. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on September 28, she revealed:
“I’m not touching it. I really did go out there to set up myself for retirement. I am going to take a little bit longer of a maternity leave than I would’ve originally, but yeah, I’m going to be working the same. I’m living the same. I’m pretty much just putting it away and forgetting about it.”
When asked about a possible return to the island, Petty expressed contentment with her experience, stating:
“I think my Survivor experience was everything I wanted it to be. I know what it’s like to be on the bottom. I know what it’s like to be on the top. I think I’m good. Of course, if they call, you need to think about it. But I am very full from Survivor and I don’t have anything else that I need from the island. I went out there to win. I won.”
Her Journey on Survivor
Kenzie earned the title of ‘Sole Survivor’ by securing five jury votes, surpassing Charlie, who finished second with three votes, and Ben, who received none during the thrilling finale on May 22.
In addition to her strategic gameplay, Kenzie made history by being the first contestant to wear her Buff as a bow in her hair and the first woman to win a fire-making challenge.
Kenzie and Jackson Petty postponed their wedding initially scheduled for June 2023 to accommodate the filming of Survivor. They finally tied the knot in September 2023 upon their return from Fiji.
