- Chikorita in Pokemon Legends: Z-A will feature Disarming Voice, a move it typically cannot learn, leading to speculation among fans.
- There are theories suggesting that Chikorita’s evolution, Meganium, may acquire a Fairy-type Mega Evolution.
In the wake of the recent Pokemon Presents event focusing on Pokemon Legends: Z-A, attention has turned to an exciting development regarding Chikorita. This beloved starter Pokémon will gain access to Disarming Voice, a Fairy-type move not ordinarily available to it in other Pokémon titles as of this writing. This revelation has ignited the imagination of the Pokémon community.
Chikorita, known as the Leaf Pokémon, made its debut in Pokemon Gold and Silver as the Grass-type starter from the Johto region, alongside its companions, Cyndaquil and Totodile. Characterized by its vibrant green body and the prominent leaf atop its head, Chikorita can unleash potent attacks like Razor Leaf. This Pokémon evolves into Bayleef and subsequently into Meganium, gaining access to more formidable Grass-type maneuvers. Players can catch Chikorita in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by enhancing the Terarium’s Coastal Biome and exploring grassy areas along the shore.
With the announcement that Chikorita would join Tepig and Totodile as the starter Pokémon in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, trainers quickly shared their thoughts on the nostalgic return of this Grass-type. Prominent content creator HDvee highlighted the inclusion of Disarming Voice during combat, alongside other moves such as Leafage and Leech Seed. This inclusion of a Fairy-type move, which Chikorita cannot learn in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, has led to rumors that Meganium may indeed receive a Mega Evolution featuring both Grass and Fairy types.

Although the trailer for Pokemon Legends: Z-A did not reveal any new Mega forms, it confirmed that previous Mega Evolutions for notable Pokémon such as Charizard, Lucario, and Ampharos will feature in the upcoming title. Currently, Chikorita and its evolutions remain purely Grass-type, emphasizing a defensive role that supports allies with moves like Reflect and Light Screen. However, Chikorita’s overall lower stats and predictable attack patterns have cast it as one of the less formidable starter Pokémon. If Meganium were to manifest a Mega Evolution that introduced a Fairy-type, it would align it with Pokémon like Whimsicott, Tapu Bulu, and Shiinotic.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A is set to launch in late 2025, while The Pokemon Company is expected to roll out additional content for other games like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and Pokemon Unite throughout the year. Fans eagerly await further updates regarding Pokemon Legends: Z-A as anticipation builds.
