On October 24, authorities apprehended Chicago’s OTF rapper Lil Durk on murder-for-hire charges in Florida. His arrest is connected to the 2022 slaying of Saviay’a Robinson, a cousin of rapper Quando Rondo, which took place in Los Angeles.
Interestingly, hours before Durk’s arrest, five members from his record label, Only The Family (OTF), were also detained on similar murder-for-hire charges related to Robinson’s death. Lil Durk is currently being held without bail at the Broward County Jail while arrangements are made for his transfer to the US Marshals.
In the wake of Durk’s arrest, fans have taken to social media to express their opinions. Supporters of rapper NBA YoungBoy have been particularly vocal, often engaging in discussions that pit them against Durk’s fans. One Twitter user stated that YoungBoy should be free, while suggesting Lil Durk remain incarcerated:
“Free NBA YoungBoy, Keep Lil Durk.”
“Free NBA Youngboy, keep Durk locked,”echoed another user in agreement.
“Lil Durk let NBA Youngboy fans get to his head and crashed out,”a different user added.
“Free NBA Youngboy, F**k Lil Durk,”a user commented.
Contrary opinions have emerged as well, with some fans advocating for YoungBoy to remain behind bars instead.
“Free Durk, keep that ni**a NBA Youngboy locked up,”wrote one user in jest.
“If Durk Get Booked NBA Told On Him,”a netizen speculated.
“NBA Youngboy fans after baiting Durk to slide for Von,”another user noted.
Back on April 16, 2024, NBA YoungBoy was taken into custody on several serious charges, including felony offenses related to identity theft, prescription forgery, and illegal substance possession. At the time of his arrest, YoungBoy was already under house arrest due to a previous federal firearms case. As of October 2024, he remains incarcerated, facing a total of 66 charges, and was denied bail as of May 2024.
Lil Durk and Five Other OTF Members Arrested for Murder-for-Hire Charges, Allegedly Aimed at Quando Rondo
On October 24, rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was taken into custody in South Florida for murder-for-hire allegations. This arrest relates to the August 2022 homicide of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
Simultaneously, five OTF members—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—were also arrested. According to WGN Chicago, these individuals face charges including “murder-for-hire, executing murder-for-hire resulting in death, and the possession and discharge of firearms and machine guns in a violent crime that led to death.”
The Independent reports that the murder-for-hire scheme was allegedly devised as revenge against Quando Rondo for the death of King Von, who was Lil Durk’s associate. King Von was killed in November 2022 outside a hookah bar in Atlanta following a confrontation in the parking lot.
On August 19, 2022, in Los Angeles, Quando Rondo’s cousin was shot during an ambush while they were stopped at a gas station in the Beverly Groves neighborhood with Rondo and his sister present. While they managed to escape unharmed, Robinson was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries.
Reports suggest that Rondo was the initial target during the incident, but he survived the attack. This operation was reportedly plotted in revenge for King Von’s murder, which was allegedly at the hands of one of Rondo’s known associates.
The ongoing investigation into the case of Durk and the five OTF members will shift to Los Angeles for further proceedings.
Currently, Lil Durk and his associates remain in custody, as directed by US Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Gilbert.
