Introducing Lionhearts: A New Era in Multiplayer Gaming
Yesterday, a compelling new game project titled Lionhearts launched on Kickstarter, aimed at securing $100, 000 in funding. Remarkably, over half of this goal has already been reached. For fans of ROBLOX, the name will sound familiar as it references Lionhearts: Crusade, an immensely popular conquest experience by Credenzio Studios that has amassed over 6.3 million plays since its debut in 2018.
From ROBLOX to a Standalone Experience
Colorado-based developer Credenzio is now expanding this concept into a standalone game built using Unreal Engine 5.Lionhearts promises to offer a persistent multiplayer feudal simulation inspired by notable titles such as Mount and Blade: Bannerlord, Assassin’s Creed, Helldivers, and EVE Online.
Exploring Historical Authenticity in Gameplay
Set against the backdrop of a historically rich 12th-century medieval world during the period of the Third Crusade, the developers are committed to maintaining a level of historical accuracy. Players will enjoy significant freedom within this setting, as non-player characters (NPCs) are limited, allowing for a dynamic player-driven environment.
Players will embark on their journey by gaining favor within their kingdoms to rise through the religious, military, or trade ranks. They can acquire wealth, tools, lands, and ultimately power. Players must select from three distinct career paths reflective of the era—military, religious, or trade. With an array of 16 factions and 14 guild types that open up over 60 career options, players can choose to be anything from a valiant knight to a prosperous bishop, merchant, or even ascend to become a king ruling the Holy Land.
Player-Controlled Kingdoms and Dynamic Diplomacy
Lionhearts will feature 12 player-controlled kingdoms alongside 4 military orders, ensuring that every key position, from lord to king, is held by real players. This innovative structure enables players to command armies, engage in warfare, and navigate a complex landscape of diplomacy amid the ongoing struggle for dominance and land.
As players vie for control in the Holy Land, monarchs will need to balance the intricate facets of internal politics, trade, and religion. Notably, Credenzio aims to create a persistent MMO-style world through advanced server meshing technology, allowing players to seamlessly transition between locations without experiencing loading screens or server interruptions.
An Ambitious Project from an Indie Studio
This undertaking is undoubtedly ambitious for an independent studio, yet excitement surrounds the project. Interested individuals can access a ‘visual demo’ available for download via the Kickstarter page. Additionally, gamers can add Lionhearts to their Steam wishlists to stay updated.
