Superman & Lois Season 4 Character Deaths: What You Need to Know

The highly anticipated fourth season of Superman & Lois debuted on The CW Network on October 7, 2024. As the series prepares for its concluding chapter, the action picks up right where season three’s shocking finale left viewers, with Superman poised for a showdown against Doomsday on the moon.

During the season premiere, their battle ultimately takes them to Mars, while Lois and their children confront Lex Luthor back on Earth.

In this season’s opening episode, which draws inspiration from the iconic Death of Superman storyline, fans witness Superman’s demise at the hands of Doomsday. His passing raises significant questions about the narrative’s trajectory. Although Tyler Hoechlin reprises his role as Superman by the conclusion of episode 2, it is only as a holographic projection in the Fortress of Solitude. The Kent family must now navigate fresh trials involving Lex Luthor as they remain in Smallville.

Is Superman dead in Superman & Lois season 4?

As of now, Superman’s death is confirmed in the fourth season of Superman & Lois. At the conclusion of season three, Lex Luthor transforms Bizarro into Doomsday and strategically leads him to confront Superman. The ensuing battle proves futile for Superman as he struggles against Doomsday’s overwhelming strength.

The conflict escalates as Doomsday drags Superman into space, eventually bringing their clash to the Moon and then Mars. Superman fights valiantly, but in a tragic turn of events, Doomsday gains the upper hand and fatally injures him by tearing out his heart.

Returning to Earth, Doomsday discards Superman’s lifeless body at the feet of the Kents and delivers the heart to Lex Luthor. In a desperate attempt to save his father, Jordan transports Superman’s remains to the Fortress of Solitude. However, Lara informs him that saving Superman is impossible without his heart. Thus, Jordan embarks on a quest to recover Clark’s heart.

Believing he has found it, Jordan quickly realizes this was a trap orchestrated by Lex Luthor. Using Kryptonite beams, Luthor weakens Jordan and destroys his father’s heart before his eyes. At this point, Superman’s death in season 4 appears irrevocable.

Will Superman return in Superman & Lois season 4?

In the original comic arc following Superman’s death, he is eventually revived during the Reign of Supermen storyline, where four characters emerge claiming to be Superman. Among them, the Eradicator takes Superman’s body and places it in a Regenerator Matrix within the Fortress of Solitude, absorbing his energy and bringing him back to life.

However, with Clark’s heart destroyed and his existence reduced to a hologram in the Fortress, the potential for his return becomes complex. Whether Superman will make a comeback or remain lost to the storyline is currently up in the air.
