Superbon admits his style is now more suited for kickboxing: “I’m a little bit more comfortable”

As a previous ONE featherweight kickboxing world champion, Superbon Singha Mawynn of Thailand has stated that his fighting style has progressed from Muay Thai to a more kickboxing-oriented strategy.

The 33-year-old Bangkok native initially trained in ‘the art of eight limbs,’ but ultimately rose to become the top kickboxer in the world through his participation in ONE Championship.

During a recent interview with the South China Morning Post, Superbon discussed how his skill set changed when he transitioned from Muay Thai to kickboxing.

The representative from Singha Mawynn stated:

“Yes, [I feel more comfortable doing kickboxing]. I think it’s been six to seven years, around there, since I’ve been fighting only in kickboxing. And I think I’m a little bit more comfortable because kickboxing does not have as much weapons. Because in Muay Thai, you can clinch, you can elbow, you can have more techniques in Muay Thai. And that means we have to worry a lot.”

Superbon has expressed his preference for kickboxing’s more limited rule set, and based on all evidence, the 33-year-old has undeniably thrived.

This weekend, Superbon and No.2-ranked ONE Championship kickboxing contender Marat Grigorian of Armenia will once again face off in a highly-anticipated battle. The main event of ONE Friday Fights 58 will see the two longtime rivals lock horns in a rematch of their previous fight.

The event will be aired live from Bangkok, Thailand’s renowned Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

The ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion will be crowned as the winner.

Fans in both the United States and Canada will have the opportunity to watch all of the thrilling action live through the global pay-per-view on watch.ONEFC.com this Friday morning, April 5th.

Superbon Claims to be the Top Kickboxer: “No One Can Beat Me”

Just days before his attempt to reclaim the ONE world championship title, Superbon Singha Mawynn confidently asserts that he is unrivaled in the featherweight kickboxing division.

He informed ONE Championship.

“Right now, I don’t see anyone. Before, Sitthichai was good too. But now he’s going down.”
