Shifts in Seasonal Content Delivery
In a significant change from its traditional season-based content delivery, Bungie restructured its approach with the launch of The Final Shape expansion in June 2024. This expansion marked a transition to an episodic content format. The release of Episode 2: Revenant built upon this new model by offering all Destiny 2 story content simultaneously, a trend that continued with Episode 3: Heresy in early February 2025.
Exploring Sundered Doctrine
As part of Heresy’s Act 1, the Sundered Doctrine dungeon introduces an intriguing narrative where the Hive god Savathûn leads Guardians through the challenges found in Rhulk’s Pyramid Ship. Players can anticipate a series of combat encounters alongside intricate puzzles. The dungeon features an eclectic mix of enemies, including both Hive and Dread forces.
Sundered Doctrine Dungeon Race
To celebrate the launch of Sundered Doctrine, Bungie has initiated a new Dungeon Race, challenging teams to complete the dungeon enabled in Contest Mode. Participants in this mode will find the absence of certain powerful weapons and perks such as the Auto-loading Holster, Lord of Wolves shotgun, and class-specific Exotic Glaives, among others. Additionally, the Volatile Marksman Artifact Mod Boost and specific perks associated with Solipsism have also been disabled temporarily.
The first team to successfully complete the dungeon and verify their accomplishment with Bungie will receive a customized trophy as recognition. It’s worth noting that participants must be at least 13 years old to be eligible for rewards, as detailed in the official rules of the contest. Additionally, players who complete a Contest Mode run within the first 48 hours of the dungeon’s launch will be guaranteed an Exotic weapon drop along with a unique emblem as a reward.
Those who conquer the new dungeon by 9:59 AM PDT on May 6 will gain access to exclusive Bungie Rewards offers, including a Sundered Doctrine merchandise pack featuring a pin, a dungeon bracelet, and a branded shirt. Furthermore, the opportunity to purchase a standalone Sundered Doctrine Title Pin also hinges on meeting this deadline. According to Bungie’s updated roadmap, Sundered Doctrine stands as the first and only dungeon to debut in 2025.
