Emerging from the depths of the ocean, with menacing teeth, a crown of thorns, numerous ears, and tentacles, this formidable boss is sure to haunt the dreams of many players. Without proper preparation, it poses a significant threat due to its strength and aggressive attacks. Players can create a wide range of team compositions and class combinations, making it unpredictable as to what synergies might be utilized.

At this stage of the game, Junah, known as the Songstress, will be part of your team, and she was included during my confrontation with this boss. As your team configuration will likely differ, so will your tactics. Below, I will outline the strategy we employed to defeat Sea Horror Homo Sabara in Metaphor ReFantazio.

Strategies for Defeating Sea Horror Homo Sabara in Metaphor ReFantazio

Our team setup for tackling Sea Horror Homo Sabara in Metaphor ReFantazio consisted of Hero (Cleric), Junah (Masked Dancer), Strohl (Wizard), and Heismay (Assassin). This encounter is notable for introducing the ability to swap out characters mid-combat, so if someone in your lineup proves ineffectual, consider replacing them.

One of the key vulnerabilities of Sea Horror Homo Sabara is its weakness to Electric attacks. By leveraging the Wizard and Masked Dancer, we were able to utilize Kandeon through Synthesis, which deals significant Electric damage to a single target, making it an ideal combination for this battle.

This boss has some severely damaging techniques, including Random Attack, where it unleashes all its tentacles to relentlessly strike your entire party. In my experience, one of my allies was particularly susceptible to this attack, which led to even more damage from moves like Torrential Breath, targeting one specific character with a water-based strike.

It also features a powerful single-target attack called Heavy Slam, which can inflict substantial damage on characters who are vulnerable to it. Perhaps the most infuriating move is Ink Spew, which applies the Malady debuff to all members of your party. This debuff decreases all stats and negates the effects of recovery magic and items. If you have brought along items such as Ailment Absolution, now is the perfect opportunity to utilize them.

To reduce the impact of the boss’s Random Attack, take the initiative to eliminate its tentacles first. We employed Gold Attack from the Merchant skill tree, which has a high chance of scoring critical hits, and utilized Gakandera, dealing Mid-Level Electric damage to all foes.

Other team members focused their strongest single-target abilities on systematically taking down the tentacles. Once you manage to dispatch all of its tentacles, Sea Horror Homo Sabara’s defenses will be lowered, making it less challenging to defeat in Metaphor ReFantazio.

Even after its tentacles are destroyed, the boss retains its more troublesome moves, including Ink Spew. Remain vigilant in clearing Malady from any affected party members and unleash your most potent Electric attacks or Gold Attack if available. Once you prevail, you can continue your journey towards the next challenge in the quest for the new king.
