The upcoming title, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, introduces players to various weapons and upgrades, with the Fire Shot being the first of four elemental enhancements. This powerful weapon allows Samus to not only eliminate enemies and melt ice but also to bypass the notorious Fire Blockers scattered throughout the game. In this comprehensive guide, we will outline the steps to unlock the Fire Shot and navigate through the Fire Blockers in Metroid Prime 4.
Discovering the Fire Shot in Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

Step 1: Complete Fury Green & Volt Forge
To begin your journey towards acquiring the Fire Shot upgrade, you must first complete two essential dungeons: Fury Green and Volt Forge. Upon finishing Volt Forge, you are set free into the expansive region of Sol Valley, featured prominently in the game’s marketing.
While you may seem to have freedom of exploration, your path will be quite linear. Even though you have the option to return to Fury Green to collect newly accessible items using the Psychic Boots and Psychic Bomb, it is advisable to hold off until you obtain the Fire Shot. This will make your return to Fury Green more productive, especially since you’ll need to revisit after exploring Flare Pool to collect the Fire Chip.
Step 2: Acquiring the Fire Chip

Unlike previous entries in the Metroid series, you don’t simply find the Fire Shot in a dungeon. Instead, you must first locate a data chip containing the schematics for the weapon. The Fire Chip can be discovered in the Flare Pool dungeon located in the southeast area of the overworld map.
Upon reaching Flare Pool, utilize the Vi-O-La cycle on the spinner platform to access the main entrance. Follow the designated path, leading to a cutscene where a mysterious figure, likely Sylax, causes the bridge to collapse underneath Samus, forcing her to retreat.
At this point, crossing the lava below the bridge is impossible. As you exit the chamber, you will notice a previously locked door has now opened, from which robotic enemies emerge. Defeat these foes and advance through the door to reach the end of the passage.

In the spacious chamber ahead, you will spot a crane extending into the central area, marked by a red glowing light. Look around for platforms that will allow you to access the body of the crane.

Once atop the crane, transform into Morph Ball mode and employ Psychic Bombs to navigate through a small opening at the end. Use another Psychic Bomb to dislodge the machinery, leading to a cinematic sequence that shows the glowing item being freed.
Interact with the now-accessible glowing item to claim the Fire Chip, an essential component for activating the Fire Shot. After acquiring it, exit Flare Pool, and you will receive a message instructing you to return to base camp at Fury Green.
Step 3: Unlocking the Fire Shot Weapon

Upon entering the main chamber of Fury Green, locate the Cargo Launcher that allows for fast travel to the launch site near Base Camp.

On your map, a small flag icon will indicate Myles’ location. Head to this chamber and deliver the Fire Chip to him. In return, he will unlock the Fire Shot, significantly expanding your access to various areas within the game.
Step 4: Overcoming Fire Blockers & Webbing
With the Fire Shot upgraded, tackling Fire Blockers becomes straightforward. Simply fire a shot at a Fire Blocker lock or any obstructing webbing, and they will be instantly incinerated, granting you access to previously unreachable areas.
