Certification Battle: Crag Manjula

Successfully overcoming the Crag Manjula in the Certification Battle requires defeating him within three turns.

Strategy

Weaknesses: The Crag Manjula is particularly susceptible to strike attacks but shows strong resistance to pierce and slash damage, with fire attacks having no effect.

Recommended Classes:

  • Wizard Class: Wizards excel with basic attacks that gradually wear down Crag Manjula, and the spell Blizza can deal significant damage.
  • Pugilist and Brawler Classes: These classes shine due to their strike capabilities, maximizing damage with Perfect Punch.

Employ a lineup of four Brawlers and maintain an onslaught of Perfect Punch to deliver steady strike damage. To mitigate the HP depletion from Perfect Punch, use a multi-healing spell through Skill Inheritance for one of your characters.

Rewards:

  • Money: 25,000
  • Rank: Bronze III

Bronze Rank III: Goborn King

Facing Goborn King can become significantly manageable with the right class synergy. The Goborn King will summon Goborn minions that are easily dispatched with appropriate area-of-effect (AOE) attacks.

Strategy

  • Swordmaster: Initiate combat using the Vorpal Blade synthesis skill that strikes all Goborns at once.
  • Faker: Utilize the Dekaja ability to remove buffs, countering the Goborn King’s frequent use of Unwavering Blade for agility boosts.

Focus your efforts on eliminating the minions first, leaving only the Goborn King. As the King will continuously recast Unwavering Blade each turn, keep negating this buff with Dekaja.

Rewards:

  • Items: Man O’War gloves
  • Rank: Bronze Rank II
  • Courage

Bronze Rank II: Gangaflos and Serpetias

The encounter with Gangaflos and Serpetias takes place in the overworld arena.

Strategy

Recommended Classes:

  • Mage/Wizard: These classes feature wide area attacks in their basic skill set, enabling them to hit multiple foes simultaneously.
  • Seeker: The Chase Support passive allows your allies to engage more frequently in combat.

This approach allows for efficient handling of foes as they spawn throughout the Coliseum arena.

Rewards:

  • Items: 10 Blessed Waters, 5 Graced Waters, 2 Heavenly Waters
  • Rank: Bronze Rank I
  • Courage

Bronze Rank I: Vesp and Nocross

This match is a solo engagement where you confront both Vesp and Nocross without the use of synthesis attacks.

Strategy:

  • Status Effect Management: Nocross can induce Forget, while Vesp can apply Hex and Poison status. These effects can stack, so consider equipping items to counter them.
  • Forget-Me-Nots Accessory: Wear this accessory to negate the Forget effect.
  • Venomward Charm: This charm mitigates the Hex and Poison effects from Vesp if chosen for defensive play.

Class and Skill Suggestions:

  1. Seeker Class: Leverage Cyclo to swiftly take down Nocross.
  2. Gunner Class: Employ Poison Shot or Hex Shot to attack Vesp from a distance.
  3. Magic Knight: If needed, Heavy Rush is effective, though ranged skills while staying in the back row are preferable.

Concentrate on eliminating one enemy at a time, starting with the foe whose weaknesses match your accessories, which will help mitigate incoming damage and stabilize your position in battle.

Rewards:

  • Items: Fortune’s Grasp accessory, Rainbow Bathblossom
  • Rank: Silver Rank III
  • Courage

This encounter involves battling multiple Homo Tentai, each characterized by unique elemental resistances and vulnerabilities.

Strategy

Class Setup:

  • Swordmaster: Utilize Vorpal Blade synthesis to decrease the attack power of the enemies.
  • Brawlers: Include two Brawlers, one specializing in fire attacks and the other in ice. The Azure Homo Tenta is weak to fire, while the Ochre counterpart is vulnerable to ice attacks.
  • Faker/Gunner: Use Marakukaja for defensive enhancements.

The tactic is to alternate fire and ice assaults on Azure and Ochre Homo Tentai, applying Marakukaja for defense, and invoking Vorpal Blade to diminish their offensive capabilities.

Rewards:

  • Items: Miracle Igniter
  • Rank: Silver Rank II
  • Courage

Silver Rank I: Coliseum Mage and Coliseum Fighter

This battle necessitates the use of two Brawlers. While the Mage is vulnerable to strike damage, they can deal significant harm.

Strategy:

  1. Initially, target the Fighter: Despite having resistance to strike damage, the Fighter is vulnerable to light attacks, so equip Hamaon or other light-based spells to eliminate them quickly, generally in about four strikes.
  2. Once the Fighter is down, shift your focus to the Mage, who will be unable to incapacitate your party.

The General’s Ice Dodge passive can aid in avoiding the Mage’s attacks, and utilizing the Almighty Megido skill will ensure steady damage. Additionally, Faker’s Dekaja can remove the Mage’s hit/evasion enhancements.

Rewards:

  • Items: Full Moon Medal accessory, Chain of Bonds accessory
  • Rank: Gold Rank III
  • Courage

Gold Rank III: Lina

This occasion presents a solo struggle against your rival, Lina. Ice attacks can be advantageous, especially if you possess the Prince Archetype.

Strategy:

  • Preferred Archetype: Prince (obtainable after the ninth month). Start positioned in the back row and activate Hero’s Cry to gain four additional turns, followed by Radiance until Lina’s health is fully depleted.

If you confront her prior to reaching month nine, consider using the Faker archetype along with the Roguery skill for extra turns and unleashing ice-based attacks.

Rewards:

  • Items: Jade Jian weapon
  • Rank: Gold Rank II
  • Courage

Gold Rank I: “Fearful Monster”(Homo Luano)

The Homo Luano serves as a tank with resistance against all damage types and features a lethal countdown that can kill within two turns.

Strategy

Class Skills:

  • Berserker’s Wanton Destruction and General’s Frigid Fortress Tactics should exploit the strike or ice weaknesses of the boss, respectively.
  • Once these weaknesses are established, relentlessly apply these skills until the Homo Luano is defeated.

Rewards:

  • Items: Gambler’s Manual accessory, Overlord’s Sash accessory
  • Quest: Become Champion of the Coliseum

Champion of the Coliseum Battle: Guptauron

The clash with Guptauron is regarded as one of the most challenging battles in the Coliseum, mainly due to the boss’s exceptionally high defense and a rigid two-turn time frame. Achieving victory necessitates maximizing damage output per turn while employing debuffs and making the most of every opportunity.

Strategy

Class and Skills:

  • Prince Archetype: Commence the battle with Hero’s Cry to secure four additional turns.
  • Seeker or Commander Class: Follow up with Vidyartha to reduce Guptauron’s defenses.
  • Radiance Spam: After using Vidyartha, constantly cast Radiance, which consistently delivers high damage, capable of piercing Guptauron’s defenses.

If the Prince archetype is not available, prioritize equipping high-damage skills, concentrating on light-element attacks and utilizing every available damage-boosting accessory.

Rewards:

  • Items: Heaven’s Oath accessory, Lionheart Emblem
  • Coliseum Champion title
  • Special Courage Boost: Grants an additional +20 Courage, elevating your followers closer to a higher followership ranking.

Upon completing these challenges, you will have successfully navigated all Ranked battles in Varmareno Coliseum in Metaphor ReFantazio.
