Stranger Things enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting the return of Eleven and her friends, with a two-and-a-half-year hiatus since the conclusion of Season 4. The beloved science fiction-drama is poised to captivate audiences once again in its fifth and final season, which will delve into the escalating conflict involving Vecna in Hawkins, Indiana.
The series has ingeniously woven Dungeons & Dragons-inspired villains into its narrative, enriching the chilling experience offered by the surreal Upside Down realm. From the Mind Flayer to Demogorgons, and now Vecna, played by Jamie Campbell Bower (Henry Creel), the antagonists reflect a terrifying yet fascinating array of threats. Notably, Vecna’s resemblance to Freddy Krueger from the iconic Nightmare on Elm Street series adds an intriguing layer to his character. Robert Englund, who originally portrayed Krueger, also features in Season 4 as Victor Creel, Henry’s father. In the midst of these unforgettable scenes, an unexpected accident involving Bower surfaced during filming, leading to a memorable moment on set.
Jamie Campbell Bower Reflects on His On-Set Accident: “Everyone Gasped”

During a recent panel at Megacon Orlando, Jamie Campbell Bower recounted a hair-raising moment while portraying Vecna in one of Season 4’s standout scenarios involving Max (Sadie Sink). While enacting a gripping scene where he holds Max captive, Bower inadvertently slipped on water while attempting to remove a vine that had coiled around his neck. He recalled, “I actually fell over when we were shooting that scene. Yeah, there’s a bit when she pulls out the vine. Before she starts running, she pulls out the vine from Vecna’s neck, and it was a bit wet on the floor, and I fell over, and everyone gasped.”
Initially, Bower assumed that the crew’s audible gasp reflected concern for his safety. However, he soon realized that their primary worry was the potential damage to Vecna’s elaborate and costly makeup.“So, I was like, oh, they feel really bad for me, and they just don’t. They feel really worried about how expensive the make-up was, ”he quipped. Thankfully, the scene was preserved in its iconic context, contributing to the show’s success and reigniting interest in Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill, ”which soared to the top of music charts across eight countries.

The production of Stranger Things’ fifth and final season concluded in December 2024, granting fans a glimpse of behind-the-scenes moments alongside the cast members. While some beloved characters like Argyle and Eddie won’t be appearing in the new season, viewers can anticipate the introduction of fresh faces, including Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux, who will expand the story further.
