“Stop idolizing celebrities” – Public response as Jennifer Aniston reveals her vote for Kamala Harris
Jennifer Aniston, the renowned actress known for her role in Friends, shared her political stance on Instagram as the 2024 U.S. presidential election approached. On October 30, 2024, she expressed her support for Democratic candidates Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, stating she voted with pride.
“Today not only did I vote for access to health care, for reproductive freedom, for equal rights, for safe schools, and for a fair economy, but also for SANITY and HUMAN DECENCY,”she wrote.
As Aniston’s declaration circulated online, a wave of reactions ensued. One commenter urged others to steer clear of celebrity influence, declaring:
“Stop worshipping celebrities, kids.”
Critics of the actress pointed out her privileged position as a millionaire, suggesting she wouldn’t feel the impacts of the current economic climate. Below her Instagram post, several comments reflected this sentiment:
Conversely, many users voiced their support for Aniston, commending her for leveraging her platform to raise pertinent issues.
“GOOD LORD aren’t you tired of this negativity towards each other?”- Jennifer Aniston encouraged voter participation
Along with her voting announcement, Aniston posted a photo showcasing her “I Voted”sticker. She emphasized to her followers that their participation in elections is crucial, mentioning:
“I know we don’t agree on everything, and that is the beauty of this country, but GOOD LORD aren’t you tired of this negativity towards each other? The intimidation and constant threats to those who do not think the same as the other?”
The actress articulated the necessity of making informed decisions to counteract fear, discord, and threats to democracy. She urged voters to select leaders who would promote unity rather than division.
Celebrating the privilege of democratic participation, Aniston remarked, “we are so lucky we get to VOTE.”As the elections draw near, she implored everyone to engage in conversations with family and friends about the importance of voting, and to “find a way back to one another with respect, common cause, and LOVE.”
This isn’t the first occasion Aniston has publicly criticized Republicans. In July, she rebuked JD Vance for his disparaging remarks about women who have not given birth. A widely circulated clip revealed Vance derogatorily labeled Kamala Harris and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives,”implying they lack investment in the nation’s future.
In response, Aniston took to her Instagram stories, stating:
“I truly can’t believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States. All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
Aniston is not alone among A-list supporters of Kamala Harris; other celebrity figures like Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Arnold Schwarzenegger have also voiced their endorsement for the Vice President. Swift humorously concluded her endorsement with, “Taylor Swift Childless Cat Lady.”
Mark your calendars—the U.S. presidential elections are set for November 5.
