Stephen A. Smith declares Stefon Diggs “should be thankful” for where Bills chose to send “annoyed” wide receiver
Stefon Diggs’ new destination is certainly a favorable one, especially in terms of weather. The wide receiver recently joined the Houston Texans after being traded from the Buffalo Bills.
Following the announcement of the news on Wednesday, NFL analysts Mad Dog Russo and Stephen A. Smith wasted no time in sharing their thoughts on the groundbreaking trade.
“I think Buffalo, this is the right move for the Bills,”Russo said. “He had been here a long time. He gets annoyed if he doesn’t get the ball.. .. I think Buffalo, it was time for them to move on.”
Stephen A. Smith continued by expressing that Diggs should feel thankful for the path he has been given.
“The man has wanted out. He lost belief in the franchise. He believed they missed the window and he was wearing his emotion on his sleeve,”Smith said. “He should be thankful because the Buffalo Bills sent him to a really, really good [place].”
The Bills reduced the risk of the decision coming back to haunt them in a future playoff game by trading Stefon Diggs to join CJ Stroud.
While the wide receiver is still a dominant player in the AFC, the Houston Texans could potentially play a role in the Buffalo Bills’ path to the Super Bowl in the upcoming years.
Stefon Diggs looks to find success with his third NFL team
Despite his recent struggles, Diggs, with the help of his new team, is determined to maintain the momentum he generates in the first half and carry it through into the second half.
Despite initial impressions of the wide receiver’s impressive performance in 2022 and 2023, playing alongside Josh Allen, further examination of the statistics uncovers a concerning pattern. While Stefon Diggs had a strong start to both seasons, his performance declined in the latter half of each year.
In the 2023 season, Stefon Diggs had a strong start with five games of at least 100 yards in the first six games. However, he was unable to maintain this momentum and did not reach the 100-yard mark for the remainder of the season. This trend was also seen in the previous year, where he started the 2022 season hot with six games of at least 100 yards by Week 9, but only achieved this feat once in the second half of the season.
